Hi I'm Luke Thompson

About Me

I love all things athletic. I played, at one time or another, every sport my school offered in high school. I wasn't insanely great at any of them but I loved playing and seeing the progress I made as I practiced. My favorite sport was definitely tennis which I played in grades 8-12. The minute I started playing it, even though I was terrible, I loved it and knew it was the sport for me. I have been involved in the scouting program for about 6 years and achieved the rank of Eagle. It was not always fun and not always easy but it was definitely worth it. I just graduated high school, but am delaying college for two years so that I can serve a 2 year, full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Letter-Day Saints, the Mormon Church. I will be serving in Manaus Brazil and am extremely excited to serve the Lord and to show him my gratitude for my many blessings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Book of Mormon is true. Every time I read I feel uplifted, happy, and empowered to do all that God asks of us. I am a Mormon because I know this is the Lord’s Church. It teaches men and women to follow Christ and to love and serve others (John 13:35). I know that Thomas S. Monson, the modern-day prophet, is truly a prophet and that, just as Moses and Noah of old did, he speaks with God for the benefit of us, God’s children. I know that I am a Son of God and that he loves me. I know that he cares about each of us and wants what is best for us. I know that the atonement of Christ is real, and that as we try to do what he asks, he will forgive us of our sins and shortcomings and bless us with all the things we need. I know that prayer has power, and that Heavenly Father wants us to communicate with him no matter what we've done or what circumstances we put ourselves in. I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ teaches what Christ taught. I am a Mormon because the gospel brings me Joy and fulfillment and confidence, in an ever darkening world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading and studying the scriptures every day. It is not always easy for me to make time or sometimes even to remember, but when I don't read them I feel something missing. I have served in several leadership positions in the Church youth organizations and loved being able to help and influence others, hopefully, for good. In high school I served in 5 leadership positions and attempted to do good and serve others.
