Hi I'm Brian

I was born and raised in New Zealand. I was a professional rugby player. Oh yes, I am a mormon and am mighty proud to be one.

About Me

Raised on the farm in the Maromaku Valley, which was settled by our Grandfather in the early 1800s. I decided to leave secondary school after 2 years and help out on the family farm while my parents served a misson. I milked cows and farmed jointly with my cousin for a number of years then decided it was time for a career change. I played rugby for the mighty New Zealand Maoris team and the Junior All Blacks. I managed to play more than 100 first class games over about 12 years in the early 1970s then of course age and injuries start to take over. So I turned my attention to coaching. I enjoyed a lot of sucess and enjoyment in this and decided to branch out to overseas opportunities. I moved to the U.S. for several years and worked as a rugby coach in San Francisco and Aspen. We were very sucessful and won the USA superleague competition 6 consecutive years and beyond. In the offseason I went to Wales to coach as well and was instrumental in gaining championship honours there. So now I am back in new Zealand and am involved in coaching our local rugby team again but am wanting to edge out of the coaching roll. My other interests are to go fishing and diving. So I am now in a position to be able to enjoy watching my 7 grandees grow and develop. My greatest enjoyment now is to be around my family and have fun at the beach in the summer and have old school friends visit and share in the delightful environment that we are so privileged to have in the North.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, my parents were Mormons. It I will be following it to the end! It is the cornerstone of my life and I am thankful that my children and their families are also actively involved in the various chuch activities.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example to others, especially those in the sporting world. I keep the Sabbath day holy. I have never had a drink or smoked. I try to be a good example to my children and grandchildren.
