Hi I'm Michael

I am a husband, father, student, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband to a beautiful wife and a father to three rambunctious kids (2 girls and a boy). I am also a full-time graduate student studying Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, which is the professional (or fancy) way of saying I study the Old Testament and its surrounding languages and cultures. When I am not studying, I love to play with my children and to read and cook with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I honestly feel that it helps me draw closer to my Heavenly Father (God) and my Savior and Redeemer (Jesus Christ). In John 14:6, Jesus instructed Thomas, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Similarly, in Ether 4:12 (in the Book of Mormon), Jesus taught Moroni (a Book of Mormon prophet), “And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good.” The greatest good I know is having a personal relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ. By being a member of the Mormon Church, and by living its teachings and doctrines, I have grown in my faith and testimony that Jesus is not only the Savior of all humankind, but also the Savior of my individual soul--as well as each other individual soul. Since "a house divided against itself cannot stand" (Matt 12:25; Mark 3:25), I do not believe the Devil will ever draw people closer to God or Christ. As such, I have come to believe there is a true Divine Spirit that guides this Church, thereby making it The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which can aid anybody and everybody in drawing closer to God and coming to believe that Jesus is their personal Savior.

How I live my faith

I strive to daily live in open communication with God, who I believe to be my Father in Heaven. I do so through studying His word and praying to Him. Additionally, I believe that through righteous living and sincere service I can come to know Him better. In short, I daily strive to emulate my Father in Heaven and His son, my brother and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am acutely aware of my failings and mortality, as such I sincerely try to live each day better than the previous one. This pertains to all things, because, to me, Christianity is not so much a religion as it is a way of life.
