Hi I'm Lori

And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom and a professional in Human Resources, living in Southern California. I have two sons. I love reading and movies and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 8 years old, and I was the first member in my family. I used to play with a little boy down the street from me. He went to a weekly children's activity called Primary, so I started going with him. After a while, I went to church with he and his family on Sunday. When I turned 8 years old, I asked the Sunday School President if I could be baptized. They called my parents, and we had an interview with the Bishop. My family supported me in this, and attended both my baptism and my confirmation the following Sunday. I feel that I recognized the gospel because it resonated in my heart. These were principles I knew and was familiar with, in the way that we can recognize truth. It's been the greatest blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. I enjoy the work I do in church, which right now includes teaching one Sunday a month in our women's organization and being a specialist in Home Food Storage and Emergency Preparation. It's a way I can serve others and develop skills. Just as important is prayer and daily scripture study. We are all encouraged to pray daily, to build and develop a relationship with our Heavenly Father. And reading the scriptures provides inspiration, answers to both spiritual and even temporal questions, and helps to live by the Spirit.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Lori
We all make mistakes, and at one time or another, we all sin. Since God is perfect, we have to have a way to become reconciled - to return to - our Heavenly Father. We cannot do this ourself - we cannot completely pay for our sins. Therefore, we need a Savior. Our Savior is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who lived a perfect life and atoned for our sins. Through repentance, which is made available to us through the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be reconciled to our Heavenly Father, and able to live in his presence. The atonement brings us, with all our faults and weakness and mistakes and sins, together with the perfection and grace of Jesus Christ, and he makes up for what we lack when we sincerely desire it and try to do better. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ. Through him, I can be more than I am - I can be perfected through Him. Show more Show less
