Hi I'm Michael

About Me

I am an art student. My favorite subject matter is anything related to God's great plan of happiness and His everlasting gospel. I am grateful that I can express my feelings through art.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's true Church on the earth and is led by the Lord Jesus Christ through living prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday I attend Church, where I have the opportunity to partake of the sacrament and thereby recommit myself to remember and follow Jesus Christ. When I sincerely do these things, God blesses me with His Spirit and influence as a constant companion and guide in my life.

Why don't Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church's law of health and proper diet?

The Doctrine and Covenants is a volume of Latter-day Saint scripture and contains revelations given by God through His prophets. Section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants is a revelation from God given through the Prophet Joseph Smith on 27 February 1833 in Kirtland, Ohio. At that time the prophet led a class called the school of the prophets. During class sessions the men used tobacco. The prophet prayed to God and asked Him if such an atmosphere was conducive to the Spirit of the Lord. In response, the Lord gave a revelation known as "The Word of Wisdom." In it the Lord states that hot drinks (meaning tea and coffee), tobacco, and alcohol are not good for the human body. The Lord also stated that people should eat nutritious foods such as meat (to be used sparingly), vegetables, fruits, grains, wheat, corn, oats, rye, and barley. Not all things that are bad for the body are specifically mentioned in the Word of Wisdom, nor are all good things mentioned. Common sense should be used. For example, narcotics are not mentioned in the Word of Wisdom, yet we know they are bad for us. Getting sufficient sleep and exercise is not mentioned in the Word of Wisdom, yet we know such things are vital to our health. In addition to blessings of physical health, the Lord promises those who obey the Word of Wisdom "wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures" (D&C 89:19). Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I know there is a prophet like Moses alive today! His name is Thomas S. Monson. We refer to him as President Thomas S. Monson because he is the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and God's living prophet on earth today. Through President Monson, the Lord Jesus Christ leads His Church and reveals His will. God has always worked through prophets and He always will. Prophets are chosen by God. They are not elected by men, nor are they self-appointed. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God. We recognize Joseph Smith as a prophet chosen by God. Through Joseph Smith, God restored the gospel of Jesus Christ, including the true Church and priesthood authority. After the deaths of the original Apostles and because of wickedness and apostasy on the earth, God withdrew His gospel, Church, and priesthood. In 1820, God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and chose him to be the prophet through whom God's Church, priesthood, and precious truths would be restored to the earth. Show more Show less
