Hi I'm Phyllis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been interested in art from the time I was a small child. I especially loved oil painting. I love sacred and classical music. A favorite of mine is Vivaldi's Four Seasons. C.S. Lewis is a favorite author of mine. He has a great gift for expressing abstract concepts. Neal A. Maxwell, Dallin H. Oaks, Stephen R. Covey, Truman Madsen, and Hugh Nibley are other favorite authors. I have had two heart attacks that really slowed me down and "tempered" me. It is so good to have our soul-steel tempered! So yes, I'm even grateful for those life-altering illnesses. There's a lot I can still do! I just won't be climbing Mt. Whitney. I believe we each have a customized curriculum designed by a wise and loving Heavenly Father. Our job is to be good students. I was baptised into the Church at the age of 23 in when my little boys were ages 4 and 1. My husband wasn't ready to be baptised. (He was baptised later at the age of 50.) A little girl joined our family a year after my baptism. Our family was sealed in the San Diego Temple on our 30th wedding anniversary. I love my family. My grandchildren are very special to me. I learn from them and adore them. My husband and children are wonderful! So are my parents and brothers. I am blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a truth-seeker. I began my quest when I was at the crossroads of youth. I had unanswered questions about the gospel. One important question was "What happens to those who never had the opportunity to hear the gospel?" I couldn't believe that not all would have that opportunity. Through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I discovered that all would have that opportunity and that vicarious ordinances could be performed in their behalf in the temple. I learned that the gospel is preached to the dead in the Spirit World and they will have the opportunity there to accept or reject it, along with the vicarious ordinances performed for them here. I continue to seek knowledge. I love to learn.

How I live my faith

I pray morning and night and at mealtime. I read the scriptures while I am eating my beakfast. I partake of the sacrament of the Lord's supper each Sunday and strive to keep the sabbath day holy. I live the Word of Wisdom, which tells us how to care for our bodies. I pay tithing. I receive and perform various assignments or callings to serve others in and out of the Church. I love to share the gospel with anyone who will listen. I like to teach. I love to serve. Serving others makes me happy. I have made covenants with the Lord in His Holy Temple and I return often to perform vicarious ordinances for my ancestors, who did not have the opportunity to hear the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and receive those covenants. I have become very involved in family history for the last several years. It is an exciting quest. The Family history Missions my husband and I have served were some of the happiest experiences of our lives. I would like to publish my Family History. I'm still collecting and organizing. I try to always remember and strive to be like Jesus, our perfect example. I love God. I want my life to be pleasing in His sight.
