Hi I'm Elizabeth

I am a domestically challenged stay at home mom. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mom and Wife first and foremost. I am also very lucky to have a college education. I have worked outside the home as a full-time nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit before we started our family, but now I get the opportunity to stay home with our children. One thing in my work experience I learned is the that the family can never be replaced. I have tried to use a lot of the lessons I learned then to help improve my own little family now. Now I spend my days dancing, singing, reading, coloring, and having loads of fun; while trying to avoid going crazy!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Mormon family. It allowed for me to be taught about our Savior by my parents and family. The lessons started in infancy and encompassed my youth. Growing up as a Mormon led to many of my friends asking questions about what I believe and what the teachings of our church really mean. Those questions were what made me think about what I had been taught, what it all meant, and what I truly believed. I realized that by following His teachings I had avoided many problems that my friends now had to deal with. Problems that had led to unhappiness in many different degrees. That was it, I realized, our Father in Heaven wanted me, and all His children, to be happy and I was. Through my faith and obedience I am truly happy.

How I live my faith

Right now the main way I live my faith is in my home. I have worked in many different organizations in the church, such as teaching the young women of our church on Sundays and also planning and organizing fun weekday activities with them. I also had the opportunity to help teach and prepare many of the young women for our annual girls camp a few years ago. The energy of the youth is awesome! I have also taught Sunday lessons to young children and enjoy the lessons that they have taught me. At another point, I taught the Sunday lessons to the women's group. All very amazing, yet diverse, opportunites for me to learn myself. Currently, I serve my family. My favorite part of how I get to live my faith at this time is teaching my own children at home. Seeing the light begin to shine in their eyes as we discuss the love our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ, has for them, is a constant remider to me of the real joy we are meant to have in this life.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Elizabeth
Yes! The world is a confusing place. It always has been. God had prophets like Moses, Noah, and Abraham to give the world, His children, guidance. He placed them on earth to warn about devastating floods, guidance on how to survive plagues, and the power to part the sea when His children needed escape. I do not believe we are anymore intelligent or powerful now, and I especially believe He does not love us any less. He continues to have prophets that can warn us and guide us through trouble. Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Elizabeth
First, we proselyte because our Savior asked us to go and teach everyone. But I like to think of it this way. When I discover something amazing, I want to share it with my family and friends, and sometimes (depending on how amazing) the whole world. We live in a time where this easy. I find a great new way to clean showers that take so much less time and money so I "pin" it on Pinterest, I write about it on my blog, I might even mention it on Facebook. If I am at Wal-Mart and see someone staring at a product that I use and enjoy I would tell them it is worth it, go ahead take the plunge. Okay, now onto the Gospel. It is the most amazing thing thing in my life. It has brought me joy when I was being engulfed by sorrow. It has brought perspective into my life when my world seemed disjointed and chaotic. I have been given promises and blessings that are not possible without it. I have been given the knowledge that I can and opportunity to join my Heavenly Father in His Kingdom someday. Is there really anything more amazing? Personally, I don't think so. So if I get excited and want to share a cleaning method on-line, or my thoughts on a new brand of food at the store with people I don't know, doesn't it only make sense that I would want to share the most amazing thing, the most amazing gift I have ever received with everyone. Personally, I think so. Show more Show less
