Hi I'm Emily Rebecca

I grew up and live in Utah, served a mission in Charlotte, NC. 02-04. I'm a college student, author and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of six kids, single, and have been a member my whole life. I live in Utah and decend from pioneer heritage on both sides of my family. My fathers side comes from the Joseph Smith era (my great- great ect. joined the church when he was the prophet) and my mothers comes from her parents. I am a third generation convert on that side. I was baptised at the age of eight and gained my own testimony while on my mission to North Carolina, Charlotte. I am an aspiring author. In 1998 I realized that the gift or talent that the Lord had given me was writing. I love it! It has since become my passion. I am a second semester college student majoring in english and have taken the summer off to pursue my dreams of becoming a published author. It has become my part time job. My full time job is my other passion, children. I am the Assistant Director of a child care center. I pray that my writing passion will become my full time job. By my self I am nothing but in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, He makes me something. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I got baptised when I was eight. It was what every one did at that age. However I never really appreciated what I had recived until I was much older. I remember that I was at the MTC (missionary training center) in our large group meeting and they were talking about the prophet Joseph Smith. The teacher mentioned that the words to the hymn, Praise to the Man, came about from the writer. William W. Phelps a member of the church who went appostate and even leaded a mob who tried to kill the prophet. He repented and came back to Joseph and asked for forgiveness. After the prophets marterdom William wrote the words to the hymn. At the close of the teachers remarks all of us missionaries, servants of the Lord, all stood and sang the words of the hymn. It was there that I gained my testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. I couldn't wait to share it with others in the field. Now I am a mormon because it's who I am and I wouldn't change it for anything. :)

How I live my faith

I believe that in order to believe in something you have to live it. I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and therefore I try to live as he would do, daily. I am in a ward and am the second Relife Society secretary. I take care of all the behind the scenes. I have created a ward blog and a face book page. I am also a visiting teacher, I admit I let my own busy-ness get in the way of seeing my sisters but I do try. I try to be a servent of the Lord by living my life in such a way that others will want to know why I act or don't act the way I do.
