Hi I'm Shane

I'm a husband, father, son, friend, user experience designer, basketball player, & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am blessed to be a husband, father, son, friend, basketball player, amateur musicologist, & a user experience designer for FamilySearch.org.

Why I am a Mormon

The more I read, learn, pray, and grow the more it just makes sense. Also I have constantly found that the more I live my life following the teachings and examples of Christ the happier I am. I have found that happiness can be found in any environment. We should not allow ourselves to become a product of our environment. Happiness is a choice, and it is a choice that should be made on a daily basis. I am always able to find peace and happiness in the gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I strive to always be progressing in life. Each and everyday I make a conscious choice to BE HAPPY. I try to live by the 5 Simple Rules For Happiness: 1.) Free your heart from hatred. 2.) Free your mind from worries. 3.) Live simply. 4.) Give more. 5.) Expect less. I am constantly striving to be a better husband, father, son, and friend.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Shane
Our bodies have been created as a gift to us from God, indeed we are indebted to God for everything in this life (see Book of Mormon, Mosiah 2:20-21). So we should treat our bodies as a gift, and be grateful for them, and take care of them. Also our bodies shouldn't define us, we are not our bodies. We are the spirit and intelligence that resides in the body. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Shane
We believe that you should be in full control of your body and bridle all of your appetites, passions, desires, and behaviors. Therefore we believe that you should abstain from anything that would potentially enslave you through addiction or dependency. Some of the more popular substances are illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, and black tea. Instead we prefer to focus on the wonderful things this world has to offer us, like fruits vegetables, herbs, wheat, and grains. Show more Show less
