Hi I'm Mark

I grew up in a small town in Arizona where my grandpa farmed. Now i'm an IT professional. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I got my degree in Information Systems and now I live in Texas where I work as a an IT professional. I spent a two years in Mexico serving as a missionary where I learned to speak Spanish. I love to watch college and professional football and play games with my family. I enjoy playing baseball and working with technology. I'm married, I have a two awesome little boys.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young boy I remember reading the Book of Mormon and wondering if it were true. I was always taught that it was true by loving parents, but I didn't really know for myself. One day I decided I would ask Heavenly Father and find out. I still remember kneeling beside my bed and asking God if the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith really was a prophet. I think at that age I was hoping that an angel would come to answer my question but when no angel came I was confused and wondered if God would answer my prayer. Years later I realized that God had answered my prayer, that He did send a heavenly messenger, the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost testified to me in my heart that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. The answer to that prayer has sustained me throughout all the trials of my life. I love the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ found in the scriptures and through living prophets today. I love to learn about Him, and all that he has done for me and all of mankind. My love for the Savior has increased as I've followed His commandments and teachings. I'm so grateful to be a part of His Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I work with the young men as a Scout leader. I work with other leaders and parents to teach them life skills such as first aid, knot tying, and how to use a compass. We go camping and play games together. It is fun to see their excitement for life and to learn new things. I also have the opportunity to visit families in their home as a home teacher. We talk about life's successes, challenges, and how the gospel of Jesus Christ affects them in their lives. I like the feeling that I get when I serve others and I try to help out someone else whenever I can.
