Hi I'm Rachelle

I am a stay-at-home mom, homeschooler, blogger, and Sunday School teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a super busy young mother of 3. I homeschool my oldest son, while trying to keep the younger two from destroying the house ;) I am an avid reader and I try to take my children to the library weekly. I am always in the middle of a good book. I enjoy spending time with my children and doing projects with them. One of our favorite things to do together is cook.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 5th generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormons. So you might think that I am simply a member because of tradition. But the truth of the matter is that I had to find out for myself if the church was true. I had to study and learn the scriptures. I needed to read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I have prayed to know if they are true. I have also prayed to know if the Church is truly God's church and if Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. In fact I am constantly learning and growing by reading and praying. I know that God hears and answers my prayers. I know that God lives. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I know for myself that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It truly testifies of Jesus Christ. I also know the Bible to be the word of God. We are all children of our Heavenly Father. He loves us. He has a plan for us. There is a purpose for our lives. The Bible and the Book of Mormon work together to teach us God's plan, they both teach us about our Savior, Jesus Christ. They teach us God's commandments. I love my redeemer Jesus Christ. I want to follow his example. I know that if I do I will have peace and joy in my life. The teachings of the church help me to follow Christ. They make me a better mother, a better wife, and a happier, better person.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday, I teach the adult Sunday School class in our church. Last year we are studied the New Testament. This year we are studying the Book of Mormon. In preparation for my lesson each week I spend many hours reading and rereading the scriptures, studying words of modern and ancient prophets, studying biblical history, and praying for the Holy Ghost to guide me in my study and teaching. I also visit some of the members in our congregation (or Ward) each month and share a spiritual message and friendship with them. At home my family reads the scriptures together, prays together, and teaches one another the gospel. We do this through nightly scripture study and family prayers, morning devotionals (consisting of hymn singing, prayers, and scripture memorization), and weekly family home evenings (consisting of hymn singing, prayers, scripture study, a gospel lesson, family business, and a fun activity).

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Rachelle
Members of the church are encouraged to serve missions, but serving a mission is not a requirement for membership in the church. Those members who choose to serve missions typically do so because of their love for their Heavenly Father, their Savior, Jesus Christ, and for their fellow man. Show more Show less
