Hi I'm David Parker

I grew up in the Church, but I still had to truly discover it for myself. I'm a missionary, and yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife, Emma Jean and I have 7 children and 20 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The teachings of Jesus Christ has enabled us to see that our family is the most important thing in all life to us, so everything we do is done with the focus being to assist our posterity in finding happiness. I love to snow ski, snowboard, water ski, and to hike in Utah's beautiful mountains. I also love music and even sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 6 years--what a thrill! Currently we are serving a full-time mission in beautiful British Columbia in the Canada Vancouver Mission. We love the opportunity of teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, as invited. Life has been very good to me I can clearly see the hand of the Lord in my life, and I am humbly grateful for the bounteous blessings which I constantly receive and constantly am reminded that they actually do come from my Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

The word 'Mormon" is just a nickname. In reality, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. So actually, I should say that I am a follower of Christ, and, as the name implies, live in the latter days, which means the period of time when the fullness of the ancient gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored by Him to the earth for the last time before Jesus comes again. I guess we could say that this "Mormon" nickname applies to me, too, because I know that the Book of Mormon, which "Mormons" regard as a sacred record of the dealings of another ancient people with Christ, is a special gift to us from God, and because we regard it as scripture, picked up the name.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by seeking to understand the teachings of Jesus Christ and then applying them to my own life as I try to be like the Master. When asked, I am always happy to share my understanding of the gospel with others, and add to their understandding of the Savior's teachings. I am especially fond of the Scriptures and enjoy studying them. As I do, I can see the truth in these sacred books which enriches my life and all relationships.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

David Parker
I am convinced that good people around the world have a little voice in their hearts and minds that whispers to them that they are better than this old world gives them credit for being, and that there is something out there that they yearn for which they cannot quite put their finger on. I beliebe that the hope for a heavenly, ongoing life, even and especially after death, is part of our basic makeup and so when we learn the fullness of the gospel, as restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith, we feel as though we have come home somehow, and one desires to embrace theses truths and let them have a purifying effect on their lives as they come to understand all of the workings of Jesus Christ. That is why the church grows--because there are lots of quality people in this world who are actually seeking genuine truth, and when they discover it in the Church, they are eager to become a part of it as they embrace it fully.
