Hi I'm Max

I grew up in Montana where I started an accounting firm. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love all things outdoors, skiing, hiking, photography. I'm a granddad to 10 wonderful kids. My career has allowed me to live where I felt most comfortable and where my family is safe. My 4 kids graduated from the same high school, married wonderful people and completed college. I attended school in Montana, completed my formal working career of 45 years, served in Lima Peru Temple now living in the United States. My time is divided between my family, working in business, doing volunteer work in my church, as an ordinance worker in the Temple and traveling. I also go to activities in which my grandchildren are engaged. I love grandkids.

Why I am a Mormon

My belief in God in central to my own existence. I know God is a loving and caring Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ is His son and our elder brother. He came to earth, lived among man as a mortal, took upon Him the sins of all man and died on the cross as an atonement for us, if we would do what is right, then was resurrected. Jesus Christ became the first to be resurrected leading the way for all. I believe it is within me to be willing to take His name upon me and follow His teachings. My actions reflect what I believe. I am trying to be like Jesus.

How I live my faith

Helping others helps me show my love for my Savior and allows me to interact with many people. Teaching and helping is very enjoyable. My large family of siblings is reaching their own years of greater need for support and I interact with them. I teach Sunday School and priesthood meetings in my local congregation. I also help the poor and needy to be more self reliant. I've stay involved in leadership in my community and my faith.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (The Mormons) have a culture of respect for God by dressing modestly. Meetings on Sunday are generally regarded as dress-up occasions. This means modest, clean dresses, shirts and ties. We are guided by a respect for God because we love Him and want to please Him. Members celebrate all Christian holidays generally because we are Christians. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. We also celebrate historically significant dates to remind us of our heritage. Family traditions also become a time for celebration such as family reunions, birthdays, weddings and baptisms of family members. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

He was an ordinary man with extraordinary belief in God. As a young boy, he sought answers to his questions by reading the Bible. It said he should ask God. He prayed and received an answer just like everyone can. His answer came in the form of an actual vision where God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the boy Joseph. He grew stronger through prayer and through the love of his family. They believed in him and supported him. His faith became stronger as he obeyed God. His life's work was made known to him by revelation. He listened to the Heavenly messengers who told him God's will. He received ancient scripture that testified of the divinity of Jesus Christ. Through the gift of God he translated the ancient record that became known as The Book of Mormon. Joseph taught the people through his love and was commanded to organize the Church of Jesus Christ again upon the earth. He married and raised a family while he ministered to those in need. He was martyred at age 38 as a result of his beliefs. I know he was a true prophet of God. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Church today is the restored Church of ancient times. The restoration occurred with the coming of the Book of Mormon so named for the person who helped to compile the records of ancient peoples. Mormon was an ancient prophet who was faithful and valiant in following the true and living God. We're called Mormons because we believe in the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
