Hi I'm Jessica

About Me

Hello! I am Jessica. I am a Mormon. I am a divorced, single mom of three children. I work full time as an elementary school teacher. I am a convert. I joined the church in 1995. My daily life consists of finding the balance between church, family and work. My children are my life, I only work because I have to.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that is what is right. In 1995, I was introduced to the church by a guy I was dating. Soon after, he left to serve the church as a full time missionary. At first I accepted the missionaries into my home to see what my friend would be doing on his mission. Within a couple meetings I knew that what the missionaries were telling me was the truth. I knew that joining the church was the right thing to do. I choose to continue my church membership because I know that I need help from the Lord. I need the guidance of the Holy Ghost in my life and I know I need Heavenly Father's help in all I do. Life is too hard to go through without having the Heavenly Father on your side to help you. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by waking up every morning with a personal committment to be a nice person. I pray every morning for strength to make good choices and to be able to help someone. I start each day with a new resolve to treat those around me in the way that they should be treated, with kindness. I try to teach my children to be tolerant of others while still making good choices and being a good example. I attend church every week, all three meetings. I teach the Gospel Doctrine class every Sunday. This year we are studying the New Testament. I really enjoy studying the New Testament and the mortal life of Jesus Christ. Although He walked on Earth 2000 years ago, His teachings are still relevant today.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jessica
Being a member of the Mormon Church keeps you busy! The church teaches us to pray always. Pray individually, pray with your family, pray with your spouse. The church teaches us to read our scriptures daily on our own and with our family. One night a week we are encouraged to hold Family Home Evening where we can be with our family to share Gospel stories and principles. We are encouraged to go to church every Sunday for all three meetings. And, there are additional meetings during the week for the youth. This may seem like a lot and can seem overwhelming but it is not. When I do those things the Lord wants me to do (read scriptures, pray, attend Sunday church), I have more time to accomplish what I have to do in my daily life. When I get relaxed and forget to pray or read my scriptures, I am behind all day long! Being a member of the church keeps you busy but it is so well worth it. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Jessica
We need a Savior because there is no other way we can return to live with Heavenly Father again after our lives on Earth are over. The Savior was so generous when he offered come to the Earth, live as a human, teach the people, suffer for our sins and die on the cross for us. What an awesome example He is for us. Through the Atonement the suffering he willingly did on our behalf, we can have comfort in our lives. For me, that comfort comes from knowing that I will be resurrected and be with my family for eternity. Life is hard enough as it is and I cannot imagine not having Jesus Christ to help us.
