Hi I'm Jake

I grew up on a farm in rural Utah. I live and work in the Midwest. I have a wife and two beautiful children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently an MBA student. After finishing school I will work in product management for a large organization. I grew up on a farm in rural Utah where I learned the value of hard work and determination. I also gained a deep appreciation for the land and the liberties God has given us in this land. I have a wide variety of interests from playing basketball and volleyball to constantly reading up on trends in the technology and computing world. The thing I love the most is spending time with my wife and children. I love just going on walks and watching my kids interact and play together at the park.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ and what He has done for me in my life. The best part about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being able to feel close to God and to know Him and His Son Jesus Christ for who they truly are - our Father in Heaven and our Savior. Another reason I am a member of this church is because of the guidance I receive in life through God's chosen Prophet and Twelve Apostles on the earth today. Listening to and living by the words they speak, in addition to the scriptures, has helped me avoid the perils of this life and helped me experience the greatest things life on earth has to offer. I love the fact that God loves us so much that He sent his "Only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." I also love the fact that God loves us so much that he has called a Prophet and Twelve Apostles to give us guidance in our day - just as He did in the time of the Bible. I am also Mormon because I know through the power of God and His Holy Spirit that the Book of Mormon is a true record of Jesus Christ's dealings with the people in ancient America. Upon reading the book for the first time, I didn't know what to expect. Though I grew up in a good Mormon family, I wanted to know for myself that this church was true. As I read the book of Mormon, my love for and understanding of Jesus Christ and His love for me flourished in my life. It took hold of my thoughts and I began to feel clean. I began to feel the power of His love in my life in a way I had never thought possible. About half way through the book, as I read in Mosiah chapter 4, I began to cry uncontrollable tears of joy. After I prayed about it, I knew that the book was true. From then on, I knew I could never deny the feelings I had felt and I promised to follow His commandments for the rest of my life. My life is full and meaningful thanks to my close relationship with God. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by constantly striving to serve others. Thanks to my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have been a volunteer in the scouting program for 4 years. I love it. I love leading a group of boys to help them appreciate nature and the country they live in. I also live my faith by visiting the homes of others regularly and giving spiritual and physical help as needed. This is one my favorite things about being a Mormon. I get to share with others the peace that God has given me. I also live my faith by being involved. I believe, as many Mormons believe, that we should always be grateful to those around us and to the country, society or community we live in. I try to be involved and serve others as best I can. Serving others is always good for the soul. I also live my faith by trying to do what God would have me do. I believe that He loves us individually and that He wants us to be happy. I know that He has a plan for our lives that if we just strive to come close to Him, we can know that plan and live our lives to the fullest. From the person I decided to marry to the place I decided to go to graduate school, God has played a part. It is wonderful to feel His influence in my life day after day.
