Hi I'm Stacey Mardene

I'm a stay-at-home mother of two. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Although I have two kids, I still feel pretty new at being a mom, and especially a stay-at-home mom. For a while my husband and I were both in school finishing up our degrees, and handing off our little boy between classes. And then he was finishing up his Master's degree, but still spent a lot of time sharing the load of a toddler and a newborn. Now that he has a full-time job I am discovering all of the joys, and hardships, of having my own full-time job at home. And guess what? I LOVE IT! At first I was nervous, and a little bit scared that I would fail and that my husband would come home to a complete disaster. However, the longer I stay at home the more I realize that this is what the Lord has had planned for me all along. He has blessed me with everything I need to raise my children in the gospel, and to have a lot of fun with them along the way. I see now that being a mother truly is my divine nature and true purpose in this life. I continue to learn and grow on my own. I love to read lots of books when I get a spare moment. I use my quiet time at night to study the scriptures and draw closer to my Heavenly Father. I enjoy discovering new recipes and then learning how to work them into our budget. One day I will fulfill my dream of writing and publishing a book, but in the meantime I'm loving learning how to be a good mother and wife. Besides, that's what I want to be remembered for most.

Why I am a Mormon

As a very young girl, maybe four or five years old, I remember thinking that I had to believe in the Church for myself, and not for anyone else. Many children start their own testimonies on their parents' foundation, but because of much turmoil in my family at the time I did not feel that I could rely on any adult to stay strong or perfect enough for me. I knew that I had had a lot of bad things happen to me, but because of those hardships I also knew that the one person I could ALWAYS rely on was my Heavenly Father. When I was scared or sad I would pray and know that He was there. I could feel His love and I knew that it would be alright. Those experiences taught me that regardless of what else happened in my life or my family, Heavenly Father would always be there and always love me. I also knew that if I wanted to stay close to Him, and someday live with Him again, that I would need to stay strong in His church. That simple yet powerful testimony has stayed with me my whole life. I have never doubted the doctrine and teachings of the Church because they have kept me safe and happy. I have never wanted to stray from the straight and narrow path because I knew that that was how I could get back to my Father in Heaven. I'm not saying that I'm perfect, in fact I'm far from it, but I do know without a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the one and only true church on the earth today. I know that Jesus Christ stands as the head and founder of this church and that the truths and gospel were restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that President Thomas S. Monson has been called as the prophet today and that the words he speaks are directly from our Father in Heaven and are inspired guidance to lead us safely back home. I know that the Book of Mormon is revealed scripture and provides the truths needed to find that straight and narrow path. I know these things for myself, through the spirit of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

Although I have held many callings (responsibilities) in my various wards, I truly feel that the best way to serve and live is through example. Whether or not I have an official calling in the ward I try at all times to be like my Savior, love and serve others, be kind and respectful, and share my testimony. I have found that if I am always trying to live my faith to the fullest, I will always have opportunities to bless others. Sometimes these opportunities come while I am visiting teaching other sisters in the ward, or they may come when another mom is having a hard day with her kids. However, I have found that most of the time my opportunities come within my own home and family. Even though I spend my days at home with my children I know that my example will live through them as they one day share their own testimonies with friends and strangers out in the world.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Stacey Mardene
We come to know our Heavenly Father by learning and doing His will. As the Apostle Paul has said, "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments" (1 John 2:3). Another way to draw close to our Father in Heaven and come to know Him is through sincere, personal prayer and diligent scripture study. We have all been given the Light of Christ to help us discern good and evil and draw nearer to God, but prayer and scripture study will invite the Spirit of the Lord into our lives and provide deep, personal answers to all of our questions.
