Hi I'm Holli

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom to four energetic little boys, ages 2 to 8. I play the piano, love to cook and sew. I enjoy reading and traveling, when I have the time! I have been a birth doula and childbirth educator, but am not doing it right now while my kids are young. I hope to get more involved again when my kids are older.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was Mormon, so I have been to church and read the scriptures my whole life. But as an adult, I have had many experiences through my life that have confirmed my own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon, and a living prophet. I am a Mormon because the spirit of God has witnessed to me that the church is true. It brings me great happiness. It strengthens me in times of trial and reminds me of my blessings in times of joy. I love how important families are and how much the church and the principles of the gospel help me to raise my children. In a world that is often filled with confusion, immorality, and hatred, I am a Mormon because it helps me know who I am, why I am here, and where I am going. It gives me standards to live by that help me live with confidence and a love of who I am. And it gives me love and understanding for others. This why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the leader of the Young Women (ages 12-18) organization in my ward. I teach lessons on Sundays on principles of the gospel. I also plan activities for one night a week for the youth to learn and experience new things - from exercise to cooking to crafts to career exploration to learning about standards. I am also a "visiting teacher". I have a partner that I go and visit two other women in the ward each month to see how they are doing, befriend, talk about the gospel together, and serve each other.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Holli
Mormon women are like wonderful women found all over the world. They are mothers. Many have careers. Some work in charities. Many help in schools, community organizations. We are as different as can be, and yet the same as we strive to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mormons do believe in the equality of men and women. I have never felt like I am of less value because I am a woman. I know women who have felt that because they do not have the priesthood, they are not equal to men. But I do not feel that way. We each have our roles and they are equally important. The men have the priesthood, but women bear children. Are those not both the power of God? They are. And we both have them, but in different ways. We both bring our gifts of service to benefit our families, our wards, and the world. Women hold many leadership positions in the church - I am currently the leaders of the Young Womens group. And our service is just as valuable as the men in the church. Show more Show less
