Hi I'm Kevin

I'm a student, a husband, a sports fan, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student from Texas trying to get by. I am currently living in Salt Lake City, Utah with my wife and newborn son. I am studying at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah trying to keep my head above water. I love sports, food, friends, and family. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is a central part of my life, because the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me joy and strength in everything I do.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that are all members of this church. I grew up going to the LDS church and always believed it but did not gain my own personal conviction that this church is true until I was about 17. It was at that time that I decided to start reading the Book of Mormon with sincere intent. I had read through it and the Bible a few times before, but never with a true and focused effort to know if it was true. Since the day I started reading the Book of Mormon seeking truth and light, my life has changed completely, and I find out from God through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon was true, Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that his Church is on the earth again, and that Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

A faith-centered life involves more than a passive approach to God and His work. I try to keep Him and His church at the center of my life. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, I have many opportunties to serve Him and others. One of my favorite ways to serve is in the capacity of a Home Teacher. As a home teacher, I am assigned to visit, teach, and watch over a few families in my congregation. It is not only a great way to maintain strong friendships within the congregation, but allows these families a resource to turn to in times of difficulty or crisis.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Kevin
We are definitely not here simply by coincidence or accident. We believe that this life on earth is something like a test. While we are on earth we have the opportunity to prove to God whether we are willing to seek Him and follow His commandments. Luckily, God blesses us with ways to find Him while on this earth, including prophets, scriptures, missionaries, and the Holy Ghost. I know if we seek and find Him and do His will in this life, we will be able to return to Him after this life and find happiness with Him and our families. Show more Show less
