Hi I'm Jane

I love reading, eating, teaching, and spending time with family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a university student studying psychology. I love learning, traveling, and getting to know people. I am the oldest of seven children and I love spending time with my family and friends. Recently, I returned from serving as a missionary for the Church in Trujillo, Peru, where I discovered a passion for teaching and the Spanish language.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family. I continue in my family's faith, not because I do not know any better, or because I cannot think for myself, but because I have sought to know for myself what is right, and have found great peace and joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The more I learn about the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the more it rings true for me. I firmly believe that Joseph Smith restored the true Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the word of God. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He walked on this earth and marked the path for each of us to follow. I know that He suffered for the sins and sorrows of mankind, that He died and was resurrected that we might live again. He knows me personally, and I seek to know Him. He knows you and loves you. He is our elder brother, and we are the children of God.

How I live my faith

What I really love about being mormon are the many opportunities it gives me to get outside myself. Because all positions in the Church are filled by volunteers, I've been asked to serve in many ways that I might not otherwise, including teaching, visiting members of the congregation, and planning activities. I also had the opportunity to go on an 18-month mission to Peru to share what I believe with others. I learned how to focus on the things that are most important and dedicate myself to doing the will of God every day. That isn't something that I'm particularly good at, but I hope that I can continue to improve. When I pray, attend church, and study the scriptures, I feel that I can communicate with God and that He communicates with me. I live my faith as I study, pray, and worship Him.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the payment of suffering he made for our sins, our guilt, our pains, and our infirmities. It was necessary because we all sin and make mistakes, and Heavenly Father cannot abide even the smallest degree of filthiness. Thus, there is no way that any human being can make it to heaven on his or her own merit. However, because our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be with him, he provided his Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for our sins, that we might not be shut out from our Father's presence. Christ's Atonement pays the price that we cannot pay, providing a way for us to live with our Heavenly Father once more. Jesus Christ sacrifices his life and overcame death so that we might also be resurrected. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in God, our Heavenly Father, and his Son, Jesus Christ. Our Heavenly Father sent us to this earth to learn. He loves us and wants us to be happy and live with him again. We must trust that this is true, and we must have faith that Christ can save us. Show more Show less
