Hi I'm Jeanette

I'm a Mormon mother with four kids, a husband and a business.

About Me

My husband and I have four children, and we own a magazine publishing company. Together we make decisions about our children and our business. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in communications.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon. My ancestors came across the plains in the 1800s and settled in Utah. It is our family legacy to be part of the Mormon faith. Over time, I have gained my own testimony as I've needed Heavenly Father's help and guidance. I also believe the Book of Mormon is true! And because of that, I know Joseph Smith was a prophet. And all of the prophets since then have also been true prophets. I am proud to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I am the ward organist, which means I play three hymns each Sunday during Sacrament Meeting: Opening Song, Sacrament Song and Closing Song. I also prepare the Sunday program that outlines the speakers and music, as well as announcements for the different organizations in the ward. I am also the building scheduler. There are three wards that share our building, and they submit requests to me when they want to reserve the building. I love the opportunity to serve in the church! It helps me get to know others as we serve together. It also brings me closer to my Heavenly Father because I need His help in order to fulfill my callings.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Husbands and wives are equal partners in a marriage. The father is primarily responsible to provide for the family, while the mother is primarily responsible to nurture the family. They are equal partners in these roles. My husband and I own a business together, so we share family and work responsibilities more than many Mormon couples. Because we have the same goals at home, we work together to make that happen. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

President Thomas S. Monson is our prophet. Since the gospel was restored through Joseph Smith, there has always been a living prophet on the earth. Prophets are not selected through voting. Prophets are selected by Heavenly Father. We have a First Presidency made up of three men. Then we have 12 apostles. There is a line of succession to be prophet. The Lord has an order to how things are done. I know President Monson is a prophet. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a personal conviction that something is true. Once a month, we share our testimonies of the gospel with each other in Sacrament Meeting. It strengthens us to share our testimony with others, but it also strengthens the group to hear of the spiritual experiences of others. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is believing in things that can't be seen. I have faith that there is a God, and that He loves me. I have faith that the Savior did live on the earth and did die for us. The Lord wants us to have faith, and our faith is strengthened as we exercise it. Show more Show less
