Hi I'm Jacob

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad, a patent lawyer, and I'm a Mormon. I'm the general counsel for a software company. I have struggles in life, but through the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have changed. I love teaching. I've taught high school biology and college-level criminal justice. I like science. While a graduate student in neuroscience, I gave lots of drugs to mice--drugs like amphetamine and Prozac. Mainly, I'm too busy for any hobbies--so all my hobbies center around my family. I learned Chinese while a missionary, so I'm passionate about learning new words in Chinese. I have been so blessed to be married to a wonderful wife who has been an amazing mother for our four children.

Why I am a Mormon

I love communicating with God in all things, whether it be about my children, my family, and my relationships with my wife.  The Church has taught be how to use the gospel of Jesus Christ in all aspects of my life.

How I live my faith

As a family, we pray together morning and night. One of the sweetest experiences is reading scriptures together. We read the picture scriptures with the children and now we are reading the Book of Mormon together as a family. Our three year old can read some of the words, and because our five year old reads the scriptures every day, he can read most of the words now. And our seven year old and nine year old read on their own I'm especially touched when I'm tired and think we can skip reading scriptures at night but my two oldest pull out their scriptures. I am a teacher at church and teach once a month to the men's group at church. The last lesson that I taught was about charity, and I know that we need to pray for charity with all the energy of heart, and if we try to follow Jesus Christ, then He will bless us with charity. See Moroni 748. I'm a home teacher. My home teaching companion and I visit three families at least once a month. We share a spiritual message and do what we can to help them grow spiritually and with any temporal needs. My wife enjoys making fabulous Chinese food for our home teaching families. I know families are eternal, so I try to build our family relationships. Every Monday, our family has family home evening. We sing hymns and teach a lesson. My children are slowly learning how to teach! We also have a testimony meeting at home.
