Hi I'm Nicholas Ray

I sing the song of redeeming love

About Me

I'm a 26 year old convert to the Church of about 7 years now. Since becoming a member, I've grown spiritually by leaps and bounds. In my life there has been hardship and happiness. I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and in a wheelchair, but this disease and the chair are my personal classroom here in mortality. The Lord knew the lessons I'd need to learn and has given me strength beyond my own. This strength is found in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Church which bears His name will teach you how to truly come unto Him.

Why I am a Mormon

The Holy Ghost testified to my spirit that the Church is true. This knowledge brought me to the waters of baptism and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Since then, my life has been filled with light, my heart filled with joy, and my spirit with love. I am Mormon because its making me into the best person I can be.

How I live my faith

I press on in the midst of adversity, even when I make mistakes. I strive to admit when I'm wrong as soon as possible. Hymns are a daily part of my life, and I'll randomly start singing them throughout the day.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Nicholas Ray
The temple isn't just any building for members of the Church. We believe it is literally the House of the Lord. It is a sacred building in the world, but unspotted by worldly sin, so we must prepare ourselves by living our best lives. All people are invited to prepare and partake of the blessings. There are times in our lives that we cherish, but wouldn't necessarily share them because they are very special and personal. The ordinances are much like that. They are sacred. We don't speak of certain aspects of temple worship outside its walls because we wish to be respectful of those blessings. Also, part of the preparation of entering is becoming spiritually mature enough to partake in said blessings. Baptisms and other ordinances for the dead, temple marriages, and endowments. Many also visit the temple to seek refuge and comfort as they go through the trials of life. The Spirit is strong in the temple and receiving guidance and inspiration there is a powerful experience. There is a clarity of mind and spirit in this holy place. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Nicholas Ray
Baptism is essential to salvation. We believe that the ordinances of salvation are for all people, both alive and dead. After death, spirits are taught the Gospel if they didn't have the opportunity on the earth and given the chance to accept the baptism. Show more Show less
