Hi I'm Mary Ann

And I LOVE being a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in psychology--which I rarely use as my professional life is in recruiting and sales, which I enjoy. I love people--my hubby--my kids--my grandkids--most people I meet--if not, then I say "Heavenly Father, please help me see them as You see them." The result, I have met a lot of really great people. I don't take life too serious--my grandmother always said "If it won't matter in 100 years don't sweat it." So I don't. I love life and I hope you do too.

Why I am a Mormon

I always tell my children, "Some people seek for truth because they are a Mormon, I am a Mormon because I seek for truth." I have always sought truth. I have found many tidbits of truth in many wonderful places. I have marveled at truths discovered by great scientific minds. I love inspired words from Mother Theresa, Confucius, CS Lewis and other religiously oriented minds. I see truth in good art, music and literature. I love truth. I am a Mormon because here I find complete truth that pulls all the pieces together. I am ever so grateful. I love knowing where I came from before I was born, that there is a purpose in me and every individual coming to this earth, and that our lives continue in an understandable, sensible and familiar manner when we depart. It makes complete sense to me that every person will have the opportunity to learn these truths in their entirety before they stand before their maker in the final judgment. It is wonderful to me to know that God is no respecter of persons and will give each of us the opportunity--at the time appointed to us--to learn of Him.

How I live my faith

I have a unique opportunity for service in the church, I help members (and non-members if they wish) find employment when they are unemployed, upgrade their skills for better opportunities when they are underemployed and continue their educations. I love that the Gospel of Jesus Christ encompasses the need to provide for ourselves and our families when we are capable. Not only does it bless my immediate family, but by prudently using the resources my family has been blessed with it has allowed us to share with my brother and his family after a serious auto accident. We fast the first Sunday of the month and share the funds from the meals missed with less fortunate members of the Church. We also contribute to a humanitarian fund monthly. When there is an emergency or disaster anywhere in the world I am grateful to know my small contribution, combined with contributions from other members are on their way to help with needs throughout the world.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Mary Ann
No! I am so grateful to live at a time when God has mandated the blessings of church membership and priesthood ordinances are open to all. Many times through history there have been particular tribes or groups who have had these privileges and responsibilities. We are fortunate to live at a time when every person of every race and every color has the opportunity to choose to follow in the Saviors footsteps and enjoy church membership and every blessing that priesthood holds.
