Hi I'm Chris

I'm a Mormon. Soy mormón

About Me

I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. My father was raised Catholic and my brother was baptized in the Catholic Church. My mother and I were never baptized into any religion. When I was 10 my father was transferred down to the Tallahassee, Florida because of his work. Within a year, some Mormon Missionaries came through our neighborhood knocking on doors. We had never head of Mormons before so we let them in. They began teaching our family. Within a year or so, all of us were baptized. At the age of 19 I left my home to go on a mission for the church. I was called to go to California and teach the Spanish speaking people of that state. One of the families that we met and taught was the Rodriguez family. 10 years after my mission I married one of the daughters. We now have two wonderful kids. Currently our daughter is serving a mission in Spain and our son is serving in Chile. We are a typical family. My son plays guitar and piano, he is an Eagle Scout. He will attend college when he returns from his mission. My daughter took several semesters at Tallahassee Community College before leaving for Spain. She will continue her college when she returns. I like to umpire Fast Pitch softball and also Little League baseball. Both me and my wife work full time and enjoy doing things as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of this church is not easy. Since we don't have a paid minister like a lot of churches, the members volunteer to accept different positions. I have taught everyone from 11 year old youths up to adults. My wife has been a teacher also and has directed music for the children. The LDS church is not a place that you can come and just sit in a seat. You are asked to participate. That is what make this a great church. People need to be involved. When I first joined the church, I did it because my parents joined. Later, after reading the Book of Mormon and praying, I found my own testimony. I understood the need to have the Lord's church restored back to the earth. Every church has good in it but they only have bits and pieces of the truth. I found that the LDS church has everything I need to one day return and be with my Heavenly Father and live with my family.

How I live my faith

Currently I am the Branch Mission Leader in the Liahona Spanish Branch and my wife works in the Primary.
