Hi I'm Jeremy Andrew L.

I'm a grade school teacher. I'm a father of five and a husband to one wife! :o)

About Me

I call Wyoming home and grew up playing football on my high school team and racing down mountains with my school's alpine team. My high school classmates voted me "Most likely to have 12 kids" and "Nicest guy." I served a 2 year volunteer mission in the great state of New York. I'm currently a grade school teacher and thus I have more then 12 kids each fall. :o I'm happily married to a beautiful wife and we've been blessed with four children, three boys and one girl. I guess we'll be a scouting/camping family. My wife and I chose to raise our family in Wyoming for many reasons. For one, we love the beautiful mountains, and I love the hunting and fishing they offer. I took my four-year-old hunting last fall. He started to complain sitting in a blind can be boring. However, just after the complaining started I bagged a nice big doe. When my son saw it, he stated, "Let's get another one!" I love enjoying the outdoors with my family. My grandparents homesteaded Wyoming. The family dairy farm is still up and running and I hope my children will have the opportunity to milk as I did when I was growing up. There is nothing like a farm to keep family close. It's nice to be part of a large family and live in the same town. Family is important and my children and I have the advantage of growing up with cousins. It's such a blessing to live by family.

Why I am a Mormon

Some who know me may think that the reason I'm a Mormon is because my parents are too. Thus, I was born into this church and thus it is simply a tradition for me to be a "Mormon." Honestly, it isn't the truth. Who in their right mind would go to church 3 hours each Sunday, donate 3+ more hours each week and give more then 10% of their income simply because "mom and dad" do it? I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and actively involved because I know this church is the only true and living church upon the earth. I know it's true. I came to know this church was truly the Lord's Church by living it's teachings and feeling the Spirit of the Lord (Holy Ghost) in my life. I first identified the feeling of the Holy Ghost telling me that this Church, of which I was a part of, was true when I was 12 years old. It was during a youth testimony meeting (people sharing their beliefs with each other). I don't remember what was said or what I said when I bore my own testimony but I do remember what I felt. The Holy Ghost works with the souls of men through thoughts to the mind and feelings to their heart. I received that feeling to my heart that the church was true. It was like pure intelligence flowing into my heart and mind. Even now, over 30 years later, I remember what I felt. Since that time, I have had numerous occasions of feeling the spirit testify to me and work with me to help others feel the truth of the Gospel. That same spirit has testified to me that there are true living prophets upon the earth in my day. In the bible it talks about false prophets. It states how we can know who the real prophets are, I will now quote from Matthew versus 15-20; 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. There are true living prophets upon the earth today. I have listened to them and their council my entire life. I have seen the fruits of following their council. I tell you that they are good. These are not men who quote the bible, ask for your donations and then live in million dollar mansions paid for by their church members. These men are true prophets who spend every day of their lives teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and taking care of the affairs of the Lord's Church. They are striving to prepare the church and its members for the second coming of our Savior. I know they are true prophets. Their fruits are good and my life is blessed because of them. I am a Mormon because I know. I am a Mormon because I want to be happy. Happiness comes by following the Savior and his servants, the prophets. The fruits of mormonism are good. I invite you to try it out for yourself!

How I live my faith

I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is rare for my family or I to miss a Sunday service. My wife works with the young children in our congregation Primary. I work with the congregation to help them share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends and family. We strive to serve in the callings that our Bishop pastor gives to us. We don't expect compensation for our service because we believe that when we are serving others we are only serving God. My wife and I are full tithe payers, or in other words we give 10% of our gross income to the Lord's church. We also give more on top of that as an offering to the poor. It is known as a fast offering. These funds help the poor of our congregation and the poor of the world. We have also given money to the "Perpetual Education Fund" which helps poor members of my faith gain an education which gives them earning power that brings themselves and their families out of poverty. Their gift is then returned to the fund which is then used for another member in need, thus it "perpetuates" itself. What an amazing blessing it is to know that our small donations help so many in so many ways. My charitable donations do not line any man's wallet, and that is the Lord's way. I've heard it said that if I quit going to church then I'd get a day off and a 10% raise. That may be true in some respect. However, I'd never do it. The reason I give of my time and money is because I love my Savior. Jesus Christ is my Savior and giving of my time and money is insignificant to the gift he has given me through the atonement. If you don't know what the Atonement is, I implore you to find out. It will change your life.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jeremy Andrew L.
No! Absolutely Not! That would be breaking one of the Ten Commandments, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." We revere Joseph Smith as a great prophet just as we revere Moses as a great prophet. We in no form worship either. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Jeremy Andrew L.
In short, the priesthood is the authority to act in the name of Christ. It is not purchased or earned through completion of a theology school. It is given to all worthy male members of Christ's true church who Love the Lord. Wouldn't it be confusion if God gave his priesthood to men of differing faiths? In Corinthians chapter 14 verse 33 it says, "For God is not the author of confusion ..." Thus there is only one church who has God's true authority. That church is, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The priesthood of God is conferred on a man by the laying on of hands by a priesthood holder. Thus, any true priesthood holder should have a line of authority, or a record showing from whence their authority came. That authority must have a direct connection to Jesus Christ himself. I am a priesthood holder and I have a line of authority which can be traced back to my Lord and Savior. It is my hope that I will ever be worthy of being a Priesthood holder and that I may serve my Savior to the best of my ability. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Jeremy Andrew L.
Without the Apostles and prophets we are left to the scriptures and man's interpretations. We all know how that worked out after all the Apostles and Prophets were killed after Christ's resurrection, confusion! How many different "Christian" churches have been created and exist since then? It is the same bible, why all the different churches, teachings, understandings? Satan is real and if he can't get you to not believe he will at least try and make you not see the whole truth. He's the author of confusion not God (Corinthians 14:33)! Without the apostles and prophets we are wandering sheep. The apostleship was meant to continue. Just look at what happened after Judas died. He was replaced by Matthias (Acts 1:26). Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Jeremy Andrew L.
For one thing, tithing does not make any mormon rich! The sacrifices of the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is not spent on a minister. Tithing is spent on building up Christ's church by building places to worship, providing materials to study from, and to spread the Gospel throughout the world ex. this website. I have always paid an honest tithing and I know the money has never been used to enrich another man's pockets. That is not the Lord's way. My tithing is sacred and it is dispersed properly. My uncle lives in the same complex as one of the 12 Apostles Church Leader. It is a nice place but believe me, there are a lot of so called "Ministers" who live in a lot nicer places, paid for by their congregation's tithing. I love knowing my tithing is used in the Lord's way because I pay it to the only true and living church upon the face of the earth, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." You should too! :o Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Jeremy Andrew L.
To answer this question properly it should be stated as, "Do Mormons practice polygamy today?" The answer would be "no." However, have mormons practiced polygamy? Yes, we have. Was it a free for all, all men marry as many women as they can? Absolutely NOT! Only a small percentage of the men practiced polygamy and it was a revelation and the Lord's will that it be practiced. However, once again it wasn't a free for all, it was to be practiced only by those chosen and called to do so. Jacob in the old testament was one of God's faithful. He was a polygamist. He was married to Rachel and Leah. In today's society polygamy in the Lord's way is gone and what we see is Satan's perverse counterfeit. I don't pretend to understand the Why's of polygamy, all I know is that it has been practiced throughout time, some in the Lord's way and some in Satan's perverse way. As it says in the good bible, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord" Isaiah 55:8. Many anti-mormons use our history of polygamy to turn people away from learning about the Restoration of Christ's Church upon the earth. I could use the same tactics to teach others that Jacob was a man of the devil. However, I chose to know that I don't know all the thoughts of God and will not condemn his ways because of my lack of understanding. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Jeremy Andrew L.
A favorite verse as a kid in seminary, a religious class for high schoolers, to be quoted was 1Corinthians 14:34, "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law." The women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are not silenced. In fact, the largest women's organization in the world is the Relief Society, which is the women's organization in the LDS Church. Teenage boys get a kick out of the verse above for obvious reasons. However, this is a prime example of a translation gone bad. The word "speak" should say "rule." In other words, the authority or priesthood of the Church is given to the men. The verse right before this verse in Corinthians says, "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." In other words, God is a God of order and the structure of His church is meant to provide order and peace. I don't know why God has made it so the men hold the priesthood and not the women but I do know God didn't set this up because he values his daughters any less. In fact, he values them so much that He is striving to make their husbands men of God by providing them opportunities to be worthy of priesthood duties and serving in his church. God sees all. I think he new families would be stronger if "Dad" has priesthood responsibilities and was supported by his wife. How many women go to church without their husbands in other churches? I suspect the percentage is far greater in other faiths then in Mormon households. Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding." He organized his church in the way that is best for his children, trust Him. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Jeremy Andrew L.
When Christ was on the earth he did not create a university of theology so that he would have pastors in his church, he simply said, "Come follow me." Those who heeded that call did not do so for a paycheck and benefits. Those that heeded the call were simply there, willing to serve. When Jesus ascended into heaven the apostles continued in His stead and continued to issue the call for the Savior, “Come follow me.” That call was issued to Matthias in Acts chapter 1. That same pattern is used today in Christ’s restored church. No man teaches and ministers in His church for money. Would Christ have it any other way? The miracle, is the fact that the same teachings and doctrine will be found in any LDS church throughout the world. That is without a professional clergy. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Jeremy Andrew L.
I recently attended a church with a friend who is not LDS. In the sermon, the pastor quoted from the bible, Mark 12:25 "For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven." He then proceeded to teach that our relationships here on earth are temporal, including with our spouse and our children. This sermon just left an ache in my heart. This pastor simply doesn't have the greater understanding which the restoration of the gospel provides. The truth is families can be forever. Those relationships can be eternal and without end. What this pastor is missing is there are those who will enjoy marriage in Heaven, but the example in the New Testament was referring to a marriage which was "till death do thus part" and not for "time and all eternity." It is my goal to create a family and relationship with my wife such that we will be a forever family. Heaven without my loved ones wouldn't be heaven. If you, like me, love your family and want it to last beyond the grave, I implore you to learn about the plan of salvation, be baptized, enter the Lord's Temple, and become a forever family. Check your heart, you know I share the truth. May God bless you on your journey. Show more Show less
