Hi I'm Sage

About Me

I grew up mainly in California's Bay Area, the sixth child of eight. My ancestors on both sides crossed the plains with the Mormon pioneers. I served a mission to Peru. I studied Humanities, Dance and Spanish at BYU. I've been married for almost 20 years and have five children. I love to hang out with my kids and husband, do yoga, read, blog, remodel my house, play the cello (when I have time, so it's been a while), paint, sew and knit--anything having to do with creating. I also enjoy my callings at church--as a counselor in the Relief Society (our women's organization) and as one of the Activity Days leaders (kind of like girl scouts for the 8-11 year old girls).

Why I am a Mormon

Originally I am a Mormon because my ancestors heard the word of God and gave up their lives to follow a prophet's voice. I continue to follow the faith of my father and mother because I have explored my own feelings and ideas about what constitutes a good life, and know that this path brings me closer to Christ. I know my prayers have been answered repeatedly about the truths taught in the church. I have felt the influence of the Holy Spirit so many times, that I cannot deny my testimony of Christ's church and my place in it.

How I live my faith

I pray regularly with my family and personally. I read my scriptures every morning, it helps me feel connected to my Father in heaven. I make conscious efforts to change my behavior to be more like Christ. As I've gotten older, I've been able to see my need for progress more clearly. I still have a long way to go. I have learned to have more patience with my children and husband. Weekly church attendance helps me have a pattern of repentance and focus on the role of the Savior in my life.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Most of us know that as mortals we keep making the same mistakes over and over again. My own personal defects require a long and persistent effort on my part. I know that with Christ's help I can change, and receive forgiveness. However, I will always come "short of the glory of God." Thanks to Jesus Christ's loving sacrifice, I can return to live with my Creator. We also need Christ's atoning sacrifice to allow us to be resurrected and enjoy the blessings of eternal life.
