Hi I'm Todd

I work in high-tech. I'm a scoutmaster. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied computer science and then consulted & worked in the high-tech / internet industry. I'm currently focused on helping a large social networking company scale their internal processes and systems.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that God exists. A walk in nature or a night staring up at the starry sky helps remind me of that fact. With the belief that there is a Creator, I also believe that there is purpose to our being created. The great challenge facing all of us is to determine that purpose of life and how we align ourselves with that purpose. To me, the gospel of Jesus Christ makes sense. Besides the practical societal value to living as Jesus taught, I find that I receive greater peace and understanding when I align my life with divine counsel contained in the Bible and Book of Mormon. I'm a big believer in the scientific method and don't think blind obedience is how we're expected to embrace truth. I know that I have patiently tested promises in the scriptures and found that I have felt the "fruit of the Spirit", e.g. love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, see Galatians, chapter 5, verse 22. As I've studied and prayed about the principles and doctrines taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my mind and heart have been reconciled and expanded. The plan of salvation, i.e. our purpose for being here on earth and our eternal trajectory, is truly awesome, and living in accordance with that plan brings me and my family happiness. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I'm the scoutmaster for our local boy scout troop made up of boys 11-17 years of age. It's the best job ever because you get to go camping and hiking, as well as teach important life skills. It's also a good excuse to buy some cool gear.
