Hi I'm Emily.

I'm a student. I'm the oldest of seven children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest sister of six brothers and sisters. I love basketball, volleyball, violin and piano. I am learning how to swim. I'm a college student studying 'everything' and trying to pick a major! My favorite foods are watermelon and cucumbers! I work at a non-profit organization that helps people to learn to serve through providing meaningful service opportunities to them. I love my work! Serving others provides me with a deeper love for others and a more complete understanding of who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

In times of despair I have turned to the Book of Mormon and found truth contained in it's pages! Hope seeps through to my heart and I feel my Savior's love for me. Listening to family, friends, and those I worship with bear witness of how the Lord has protected and guided them throughout the storms of life strengthens my desire to follow Christ and become like Him. Praying to my Heavenly Father brings peace to my heart and a sure confidence in the principles taught through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As new college student, a couple of years ago, I was studying how I could overcome my weaknesses in my classes and make them strengths through living the Gospel and working hard toward my education. I thought I could overcome my apathy towards some of my courses by persistently pushing myself each day. It was all about me. I had forgotten to include my Savior in my daily struggle to find my passions, interests, and talents. In Ether 12:27 the Savior says, "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me." I thought I could overcome my weaknesses by myself. This is not so. I need my Savior! He paid for my sins. His grace is sufficient for me. I am loved. When I look to Christ my vision is clear and I see things as they really are. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to this earth and it brings peace, love, truth, and light to the hearts of men today.

How I live my faith

Through studying truths in the Book of Mormon and other scriptures I find answers to my questions about life. Oftentimes the answers to my prayers come when I forget myself and think of how I can help others. I am happy when I serve others! Being a Mormon blesses my life with a multitude of opportunities to learn to serve others. As the oldest child with six brothers and sisters. I prayed to know how I could be a good example to my family. Heavenly Father blessed me with a knowledge of how to bless each of my brothers and sisters individually when I turned to Him in prayer.
