Hi I'm Justin

I'm a medical student and a proud father of 4 kids. I love waterskiing and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud father of 4. I'm just about finished a combined MD/MBA degree (hopefully!). I like to waterski, play football and basketball, and spend time with my kids. I spent two years in the Philippines as a missionary for the LDS church. I can't wait for the day to tell my kids that I'm done school :)

Why I am a Mormon

I've come to realize through some of those special life moments that we all have that God loves us and has great expectations of us. I've found through studying the words of prophets-today's and yesterday's-that I've been able to gain a greater insight into who my Father in Heaven is and how much He is involved in my life and how much He really cares for me. Many of these cherished experiences have closely involved my family. I have gained a greater sense that my family is not something that ends here. And this feeling I have is what ties me so close to the teachings of this church, because it is here that I have come to understand how my family can be together.

How I live my faith

Right now in my congregation I am involved with the organization for the adult men, typically aged 18 - 50. Here I have the opportunity to organize weekly lessons that help us guys become better husbands and fathers and followers of Christ. I'm also involved in visiting with members of this group on a one-to-one basis to talk with them about specific things that they want to talk about and how I can help them. I find it very gratifying to have that opportunity to be with individuals in their homes and to talk about things that I can do to help them in their lives. It really has brought a calm to my life that has helped me to have greater focus in dealing with my own challenges. I love it!

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Justin
To me one of the greatest things that tell me there is a God is that when I try to live a better life, and when I try to think of others first (especially my family), I can receive blessings tailored to my life. I've seen and then felt, through the experiences that I've had, that I can be blessed. I've found it easy sometimes to be discouraged, but in contrast to that I've seen that when I try to do the best I can to be a better person a hope comes into my life. That to me is a direct blessing from a God who cares about me and wants me to be a better person Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Justin
I see in our children such potential and truly believe that they are God's children. As such, I have felt that the role that my wife and I have in our family is to create an environment where God would be comfortable to send His children. From my experience so far as both a parent and a spouse, I feel that husband and wife are key players on the most important team designed to raise God's children to be good citizens, responsible individuals, and most importantly, individuals who have faith in God. In our home we try to do this by going to church, making time to teach our children, spending time doing fun things together, spending meal times together, serving with them, and working with them. Importantly, I have come to appreciate the unique blend of the strengths of my wife and I in trying to do this. I love her perspective and innate ability to care and serve. Our unique attributes and skills are God given and designed to give balance in what it takes to raise a child. Show more Show less
