Hi I'm Heather

I'm a mom, a wife, a dentist. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am a part time dentist and a full time mom. I stay busy shuttling kids around, but have learned to take a book with me wherever I go so I can sneak in some reading time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. I suspect to some it may seem like being born into a certain political party affiliation, and there is not much questioning of tenets or beliefs. While this may have been initially true, I have had many experiences where I have had to seek answers to my questions through study and prayer which have solidified my testimony. I served a mission and had the opportunity to testify to others of the truth of the gospel and have the spirit reconfirm to me the truth of the things of which I spoke. I spent many years in school studying both liberal arts and hard sciences. In all my studies I have been blessed to see the hand of the Lord guiding this earth and its creations. Most importantly I have felt Him guide me almost daily, for which I am ever grateful.

How I live my faith

I try to read the scriptures every day and be an example to my children. My official calling is as an activity day leader, which I really enjoy because it allows me to share gospel principles with crafts. My other calling is to support my husband as the bishop. Both of these callings have been a blessing as they have brought a spirit of love and service into our home.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No. In the early days of the church polygamy was practiced, but on a very limited scale. The practice of polygamy was stopped by the church in 1890 as a result of a revelation given to the prophet Wilford Woodruff. At that time many members broke away from the body of the church and created their own religious factions in order to practice polygamy. When you see news reports on TV about polygamous groups they are usually one of these factions, and often news reporters erroneously affiliate them with the LDS church. Show more Show less
