Hi I'm Alan

I have lived in Washington State my entire life. I work at an entertainment facility. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of four boys (no girls!), a grandfather of 8 children (with another on the way), and am married to my best friend. I enjoy cycling with my wife, but not the "Tour de France" kind. Just the easy, enjoying nature, getting a little bit of exercise kind.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was four years old. They had been looking for a church for their relatively new family. My father was impressed by the Book of Mormon and how it tied so closely to the Bible and seemed to hold the answers to a lot of questions. I have been a practicing Mormon all of my life and really appreciate the importance that it places on the family. Recently, one of our granddaughters was killed by a drunk driver. That has been difficult to deal with, but because of the gospel teachings, we know where she is and what she is doing. That has brought peace to our family and allowed us to forgive the driver of the other vehicle. It is wonderful to have a knowledge that families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the bishop of our congregation. I work very hard to live in such a way that I can receive the guidance I need for this great opportunity. I enjoy getting to know many people and helping them draw closer to Christ. There have been many instances where I KNOW that He is directing what I am doing and has given me peace and comfort in my day-to-day life. The joy I receive from following the example of the Savior have been worth any sacrifice which I have made.
