Hi I'm Emily

I am a wife and a mom just trying to figure out day-to-day life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with a growing family. I like to read and run. I am in a slow process of going to school for Psychology, but I am enjoying it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized at 8 years of age, but didn't begin attending church regularly until I was 16. I realized that the way I was living my life was good and full in many ways, but I had no purpose and direction to it. I didn't know why I felt it was important to do right. When I began to attend church again, I found it. I know that Book of Mormon is true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church on this earth. Christ is certainly at its head. Without this knowledge, I would still be lost and uncertain.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is a day-to-day thing. I have the opportunity to serve in my ward as the second counselor in the Primary Presidency. I love this very much. I get to interact with and teach children from 3 to 11. These children are enthusiastic and teach me much. I thoroughly enjoy getting to spend so much time involved with the children of the church. I also do participate in something called visiting teaching. All the women in the church are encouraged to do this. I go and visit other specific women in the ward and asses their needs on an individual level. Simply put, I am their friend. I love to serve in the church. I also live my faith at home. We have weekly Family Home Evening where we talk about the gospel and do things to improve our family in all ways.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Emily
Mormons believe that the Bible is the word of God. It one of the testaments of Jesus Christ. (It is the testament of Jesus Christ that was given on one continent, and the Book of Mormon is the testament of Jesus Christ given on the American continent.) We believe that is true and accurate as far as it is translated correctly. This means that when the Bible was translated into different languages, the translators left out some plain and precious parts of the Bible for various reasons. These might have been that they were rushed, they did not have the Holy Ghost to guide them in their translation, they didn't understand parts so they did not include them, etc. Joseph Smith was commanded by the Lord to restore these precious things that were missing. Thus, we believe it to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. Show more Show less
