Hi I'm BJ

I'm an accountant, a photographer, a pianist, a singer, and a dreamer. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm an accountant, but I also get out and enjoy many other things. I have a passion for photography. I love playing the piano and singing. I like to read, to write poetry, to have good chats with my friends. I love spending time with my family; sometimes that means playing Wii with my brother for a couple hours or a board game with my mom and dad. I also have a knack for learning languages. I speak spansih fluently (Argentine) and portuguese conversationally. I've tried to learn other languages such as Bulgarian, Russian, Korean, Italian, and Romanian, but haven't quite stuck with them. But give me the chance, and I would learn as much as I could.

Why I am a Mormon

Everyone in life has to figure out what they know to be true. I grew up as a Mormon my whole life. I liked the way it made me feel. It was a good lifestyle for me, and I felt something deep that kept me grounded when things were hard. But that's not the reason why I am 100% Mormon. I've been through hard things that have made me wonder what life really was about. Sometimes I doubted my abilities and even my worth as a person. On my own, I couldn't come up with any answers to relieve my worries, pains, and even despair at times. So, I would open up the scriptures, I would go to church, I would kneel and pray. When I did these things I found answers or just peace. I learned how much God cares about me and my happiness, and that he NEVER has left me. As a believer in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I have found all of the answers... all of them. No other organization in life has afforded me that. I can have peace and comfort every day, because I know what God wants me to do and that if I do it, he will guide me to happiness--always. I have learned that truth is all over the place. I've discovered some at school, some in my friend's Sunday services, some in high school, and more at my job. I cherish these organizations and places of learning, but none of them have uncovered God's full plan and all of his truth in its entirety--only the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Because of the Church, I know my purpose on earth, I know who Jesus Christ is and how to live what he taught, I know that there is a prophet today--as in ancient times--that God has chosen to lead all of us to happiness. I believe whole-heartedly that God chose Joseph Smith as his prophet to restore his gospel that was lost. All of the truth about His plan for us is once again on the earth! There is no greater treasure I have found in life, no greater knowledge, nor greater cause. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith in God makes me want to love every one around me. I'm not good at it, but I have desire to. I volunteer at church to play the organ for our meetings each Sunday. When I play and hear all of my friends singing about Jesus Christ and God's plan, I can't help but smile. I try to share what I know with others, because it has brought me so much happiness and confidence in life, even when things aren't certain. I visit the temple on a montly basis to worship and help in the sacred work there. The temple is a place where I have made promises to God. When I go there, I can help others make those same promises. Doing this gives me a feeling inside that is hard describe. I feel so good each time I'm there. I read from the Book of Mormon or the Bible on a daily basis. I love the scriptures because they remind me of who I am and how God wants me to live my life.
