Hi I'm Mark

I'm newly married, headed to med school, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm going to college on the West Coast and moving to the East Coast soon to start medical school. I'm studying Human Biology now and preparing for many years of studying down the road. Last year I made a great decision and married my best friend. She makes everything fun, even cooking together and folding the laundry.

Why I am a Mormon

The reasons are too many to count, but if I had to pick one, I would say 'prayer'. I am a Mormon because of prayer. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us because of His answers to my prayers. By speaking with Him I have come to know him, received help in overcoming many of my weaknesses, learned how to be a better person, and felt incredible feelings of love and forgiveness. I know that the Book of Mormon is true because I have read it and prayed about it, and God has answered my prayers. It's amazing to step back and think about what the LDS Church really claims and believes. We believe that Christ's original church--the same one that He founded with His apostles while He was on the earth--has been restored completely through Joseph Smith. We believe that God still lives, watches over us, and cares for us. He can guide us individually through prayer and the scriptures, and he calls prophets to show us how to be happy. Through the restored church of Christ, we can learn more about His sacrifice for us, and we can be forgiven for our mistakes and be happy!

How I live my faith

I try to incorporate religion into all aspects of my life, both on Sundays and throughout the week. I relied on God while in college and I don't know how I would have done without His help (and I'm glad that I don't have to know!). I promised Him many years ago that I would stop studying on the Sabbath and I kept this promise even when it seemed like an irresponsible thing to do (at least from the academic perspective). This promise never hurt my grades--it might have even done the opposite. And Sundays have become a wonderful break from the rest of the busy week. That's not saying that Sundays are not sometimes busy--a month ago I was asked to be a teacher for the nine year olds in our congregation and they are definitely a handful! Praying makes me happy, so I pray as often as I can. I read the scriptures and love that I can feel God's love each time I open them up. I still miss the two years that I spent as a missionary in Romania and Moldova. I love being a Mormon.
