Hi I'm Emer

I'm a father of 6 and a grandfather of 19 and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was raised in Burley, Idaho, the only boy with four older sisters. My wife's family consisted of six girls and one boy. I was sure all of my children would be girls - I have five sons and one daughter! I learned how to work early - holding a job from the time I was nine years old through college doing everything from unloading grain cars to fighting range and forest fires. Hard work helped me get a college education so I could be a school teacher for 14 years and an Elementary School principal for 22 years. I enjoy grocery shopping for which my wife is very grateful! I was involved in sports in High School and College. Reading is a favorite past time. Gardening is great therapy for me.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents and many of their ancestors were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Great Grandparents from both sides of my family were faithful members who crossed the plains to Utah - some dying along the way. I have a testimony of the gospel because of my heritage, activity, study, prayer, and seeing the power of prayer.

How I live my faith

I have had many different callings in the Church. I have taught youth and adults. I have spent many years in the scouting program. I have held various leadership positions. I served a mission when I was younger. After retiring I worked for five years in the Bountiful Temple. My wife and I volunteered to work full time in the Washington DC Temple for 16 months. We just completed a 18 month mission where we served in the Washington DC Temple.
