Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a mother and wife and love both blessings! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother and wife and love both blessings! I enjoy crocheting, camping, hiking, cooking Southern-style foods, and doing family history research. I am a certified teacher assistant and work for the local school district in the Youth in Custody program with at-risk teen boys. Prior to going into the education field, I served in the US Army as a medic and worked in the medical field on and off for just under 30 years. When the last doctor I worked for decided to retire, I decided it was a good time to change careers so that I could spend more time with my children. It's important to me to be able to be home when my children are home and going into education was the answer for me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in the Army, I was 20 years old and searching for something that would bring peace in my life. I worked with a gentleman who was a member of the Church. He invited me to have dinner at his home with his wife and children and there he and his family introduced me to the Church. After several weeks of study and prayer, I decided to be baptized and become a member of the LDS Church. I have never regretted my decision and cannot imagine what my life would be like if that gentleman had not invited me into his home for a simple dinner.

How I live my faith

I have served in the Church in many different ways and have enjoyed them all. I have taught Sunday School to both 14 and 15 year olds and to younger children. I have taught lessons in the womens class and helped other members with their family history research. I have been in a couple of leadership positions and for several years helped members with their emergency preparedness and food storage programs. Currently I serve as a Visiting Teacher, paying visits to women in my ward each month bringing them a gospel message and seeing if there are any needs in the home.

What is the Relief Society?

Lisa
The Relief Society is the oldest womens organization in the world. It is a world-wide sisterhood. When a woman is baptized a member of the Church, she automatically becomes a member of the Relief Society. The Relief Society is what it's name says - we provide relief and service to those in need, not only in our own wards and communities but around the world. I love the bonds and friendships that I share with my fellow sisters as we provide service to all of mankind. Show more Show less
