Hi I'm Rose

I like classic rock and muscle cars and yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work full time as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. I love my job and the people I work with. I love the patients that come into our store and consider them part of my extended family. I love driving and taking day trips. I love the season changes. I love cooking for others but not so much for myself. I like to read and watch movies. There's nothing better than sitting in the sun on a spring day reading a book. And I LOVE going to church.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church when I was 15 years old. There had been some changes in our family circumstances and my mother prayed for guidance as to what to do (now she didn't go to church either). The answer she received was to go to her sister's (my aunt's) church. I remember my mother telling me that we would be going to the Mormon church. I was like, "The Mormon church...why the Mormon church", yet I didn't know anything about it. All I knew at the time was that it wasn't Catholic, Protestant, etc. I grumbled about going the whole drive down. We arrived at the church and I still felt apprehensive about going inside. Then we walked through the doors. I had an overwhelming sense of peace, comfort and love wash over me and felt like I had come home. We sat through the meeting and the whole time I knew that that was where I was supposed to be. We began meeting with the missionaries and were baptized on February 23, 1997. That was the best day of my life. Since then I have continued to progress in my knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. While I have made my mistakes along the way I have learned that I am not perfect but the gospel of Jesus Christ is. I have learned that He is my Lord and Savior and that He LOVES me...and you!!! He knows my needs and wants. He knows my heartaches and my joys. I know that through His atonement we can live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again. I know that there is nothing that we can do that will sway His love for us. He wants us to be happy and the only way to truly be happy is to allow Him into our lives as our Lord and Savior....and friend.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church is a lifestyle. I don't just go to church on Sunday. I go to mid-week activities as well. I think about gospel throughout my day and how it has blessed my life. Here's a typical week in the life of Rose. Sunday - I go to the local young single adult branch (congregation). There I spend the afternoon with my best friends. We have sacrament meeting where we are uplifted and edified by messages prepared for us by members of our branch. We also partake of the sacrament (or communion in other faiths) and renew our committment to living the gospel. From sacrament meeting we move on to Sunday School where we are taught from the scriptures about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Then we separate the men and women into different classes that teach us more about the gospel and how to better fulfill our roles as men and women in relation to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Monday - Monday nights in the church are set aside for Family Home Evening (family night). Since I attend a singles branch, we all meet at the church for family night. We have a lesson pertaining to the gospel and then a fun activity. And there are usually treats!! Tuesday - Tuesday nights are one of my favorite nights. In our branch we have Institute (bible study). I go there and learn more about Jesus Christ and His gospel. I think the thing that I've learned most is that He really loves me. Wednesday - Saturday - There are usually social acitivities going on amongst my friends that I participate in. It's nice to go out socially as well because we all share the same standards and opinions. I also live my faith by the my actions. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I don't swear. I dress modestly. I try to listen to uplifting music (like I said I do like rock n' roll) and watch appropriate movies. I read my scriptures and pray to my Heavenly Father. I try to be an example to those around me. I try to treat others as the should be...as a child of God.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Rose
The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. Other faiths believe in a trinity with God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost being one entity. In the Mormon church we believe that God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings yet one in purpose. We believe that the Holy Ghost is a comforter and a witness of Christ. It is because of the Holy Ghost that I became of member of the church. The Holy Ghost will bring to you feelings of peace and comfort as you seek out our Father in Heaven and learn more about His gospel. Sometimes it can be compared to a "warm, fuzzy feeling". The Holy Ghost can speak to us in a myriad of ways including thoughts that come into our minds, understanding, feelings, dreams, etc. The Holy Ghost can be a constant companion to help us in our journey on the Earth if we live our lives so that we can invite the Holy Ghost to be with us. We do this by keeping the commandments, listening to uplifting music, praying, reading scriptures, attending church on Sunday and other church activities throughout the week. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Rose
My answer to this is how do you get to know your best friend? You talk with them, share your inner/true self with them, cry with them, laugh with them, support them. It is no different with our Father in Heaven. We can come to know our Father in Heaven by praying to Him and by reading the scriptures that He has given us. We can come to know our Father in Heaven by going to church with questions in our minds and our hearts. We can come to know our Father in Heaven by looking for Him in the little things...the sweet melody of birds on a spring morning, the gentle breeze on our cheeks, the beautiful sunset at the end of a long day. Those are all ways He says I love you. Show more Show less
