Hi I'm Hyrum

I'm a Kiwi, I'm Dutch, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest child in my family. That's definitely some responsibility. Actually I'm the oldest grandchild on both sides of my family so I've got a lot of people looking up to me. I try to be an example for them; I hope that I do a good job. I was born and raised in New Zealand and I'm Pākehā (Caucasian). That's actually surprised a few people here in the States. "I'm from New Zealand," I tell people. "But you're white!" I often get this response. "You're right. I'm Dutch, but was born and raised in New Zealand!" I really enjoy hiking and camping. I guess it makes sense, considering where I'm from. I love writing, just getting my thoughts onto paper. I hope that I can really inspire people with the things that I right (hopefully that means I have some talent with a pen). I play the Harmonica, which always interests people, because not too many people these days play that from what I've seen. I really enjoy watching movies. The imagination that people have, it's astounding. I love my music. Just listening to people express their thoughts and feelings through music, it's great. Then again, I probably just like it cause it's catchy and sounds great. who knows?

Why I am a Mormon

That's a good question. I guess I enjoy being happy. The things that I believe, the comfort that knowing what I know brings, is something that I never want to give up. Imagine thinking about everything that you've done wrong, all the pain that you've felt, the grief that you've been through, and knowing that all that pain, that suffering, was felt by someone else, that He knows exactly what I've been through, that... He has relieved me from those pains if I follow Him. It's Unbelievable. But it's true.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm serving as a Missionary for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. Let me tell you, it is an amazing experience! I've met so many wonderful people, people that I'll never forget. And I've seen so many people get to experience the happiness that I have every day because they now know and live the things that have made me happy. It's sweet as!

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Hyrum
When you see an amazing movie or hear a song that you love, don't you want to tell people about it and let them experience it for themselves? The missionaries also have something that makes them happy that they want to share with others. That makes sense, right? They'll talk about how our families can be together even after this life. They'll talk about how our Father in Heaven loves us dearly, and the marvelous plan that he has for us. Best of all, they'll talk about Jesus Christ, how he suffered so that we don't have to suffer. That He knows exactly what we're going through and wants to help us so much. And that because of Him we can be eternally happy. Not just for a fleeting moment, but during our mortal lives, and for the rest of our eternal existence. If you found the truth to eternal happiness, wouldn't you want to share it too?
