Hi I'm Trevor

I grew up in Utah. I currently live in Chicago. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a music enthusiast who loves writing, playing, and listening to music. I design things for the web, and enjoy really great typography. I like CrossFit, frisbee, and running. I make a mean grilled cheese sandwhich. I'm persuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I'm currently serving a full-time mission in Chicago, Illinois.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, and so I was raised in the Mormon church. However, I knew that I didn't want to believe in and continue in this religion just because my parents believed in it. I wanted a personal conviction that it was the truth that I could depend upon. When I was a young teenager, we did a focus on Joseph Smith and his important role in restoring the Gospel. After learning about him, I wanted to know for myself if he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove; I prayed to know if what he said was true. Although it wasn't immediate, I received the answer I sought by the power of the Holy Ghost. Later, I began a personal study of the Book of Mormon, and as I studied from the Book of Mormon, I gained a conviction by that same power that the book was true. Today I choose to be Mormon because of my convictions about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I live the way I do because it brings me lasting happiness and confidence that I've chosen the right path and God is pleased with the way I live my life.

How I live my faith

The biggest way that I live my faith is in what I do every day. Personal prayer is really important to me, and that daily connection to God plays a big role in my day and how it goes. Daily scripture study is also really key - I learn more about Jesus Christ and what I need to change to become a better disciple of Him. I currently have the opportunity to serve as a missionary in Illinois, and I go out and share what I believe in everyday. This opportunity has taught me a lot about how to put what I learn and believe in into practice, and I get a lot of joy by helping others feel that same closeness to God that I get through living my faith.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Trevor
The Book of Mormon is an ancient record of scripture about the people living in the American continent. It starts at about 600 B.C. and ends at about 400 A.D. The climax of the Book of Mormon is when Christ visits the people in America, after his Resurrection and Ascension in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon supports the teachings of the Bible, and helps answer important questions like, "What is the purpose of life?", and "Where do I go after I die?" It is another witness of the divinity of Christ, teaches us His Gospel, and brings us closer to Him. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Trevor
Missionaries proselyte because they love what they preach, have seen how it has influenced their lives for the better, and want to share with others what they know is true and brings true happiness. They have the unique opportunity to leave their families and dedicate a portion of their lives entirely to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
