Hi I'm Laura

I grew up commercial fishing in Alaska. Now my greatest love and excitement comes from family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for over thirty years and am a mother and grandmother. I have worked as a special education aide to help pay for the education of our children and to serve the community. Through this fulfilling work, I have developed a love and appreciation for diversity in children. This love for God's children has carried over into my volunteer work as a family history consultant. I love helping people find out who they are by discovering their ancestors.

Why I am a Mormon

How do you wrap up your whole life and faith in a paragraph? I cherish the teachings of my parents and grandparents. Learning and living the teachings of Jesus Christ has been like the waft in the fabric of my life. It is my joy, peace, stability, treasure and identity. I am a follower and servant of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Being a Mormon provides tools and opportunities to feel our Savior’s love and the love of our Heavenly Father, to become more like them, and to care for God’s children.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through love, respect and kindness. As I work with students and co-workers at school, I try to be kind, respectful and encouraging. At home I try to be supportive of my husband and children to help them do well. I feel that learning and living correct principles helps our family in all aspects of life. Learning these principles together is the way we show love for each other. Then as we go out into the community, we are more caring, responsible and respectful citizens. Our family has participated in many service projects--city clean-ups, food drives, cancer drives, house painting and so on. We also do spontaneous service and serve at the grassroots level in our government.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Laura
The Book of Mormon is a collection of writings from people who knew or knew of Jesus Christ and wanted to help others learn about His mission in life and our relationship with Him. It is an ancient American record that was translated by Joseph Smith with God's help and authority.   Show more Show less
