Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a soccer player, a podiatrist, a wife, I love chocolate and reading and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a podiatrist in Brisabne, Australia where I live with my husband Lance. I grew up on the beaches, surfing and swimming my weekend away, north of Sydney. I wasn't raised in a christian household but like most Australian households, a moral one where I was taught everyone deserves a fair go. I love soccer, reading period romances and going out with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I have had the holy ghost confirm to me in prayer that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I am a mormon because when investigating the members were happy to admit that they didn't have the answers to everything and needed the help from Heavenly Father to recieve revelation for their and my questions. I am a mormon because it makes sense, its logical and a practical way to live my life. I wasn't always a mormon and originally was interested in mormonism after meeting a couple that had a special glow about them and you could just tell that they were utterly happy and content. I wanted what they had and now I do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best that I can be. I try to exercise regularly, eat and drink healthy, pray daily and go to church every week. Sometimes I fall short but I always have the Holy Ghost, Hevenly Father and the scriptures to guide me. So I dust myself off, pick my self up and start again. I believe that its not my place to judge others on how they behave, that's between them and God. I know I wouldn't want anyone else judging me. I teach children at church which has taught me the fundamental lesson which is we are all children of our Heavenly Father. I love all my brother and sisters and hope that they may find happiness in this stage of life and the next.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Melanie
I’m a pretty modern woman; I went to University and now have a full time professional job as a Podiatrist. Someone once said to me that I can’t have a job because I was a woman and a Mormon. Not true! We are like most women some of us have jobs and some don’t. The church encourages women and men to develop and expand their talents; this includes professions, crafts, gifts and interests. The church teaches that women and men are equal they just have different roles. The men are responsible for providing for the family, while the woman is responsible for the caring of children, when they arrive. That doesn’t mean that it can’t change due to individual circumstances. It makes sure that everything is actually taken care of because one of you are responsible for it. Both are encourage in the church that they are a family, a team and are equal and must work together to achieve the families goal, whatever they are. Show more Show less
