Hi I'm Craig L

I grew up in Chicago Area, live now in Arizona, I am a musician, I ran group home for years, I am a Mormon

About Me

I was in the military in Germany when I first read the Book Of Mormon and joined the Church. Went to school to study psychology and after college worked did 1:1 therapy and family therapy for Forest Pscyhiatric hospital. I was team leader of Adolescent drug rehad team. Later in life I ran groups homes in AZ for kids without families. I retired from that to pursue my dream of writing and performing music. I write acoustic style music that has meaning and touches the heart. I now write and perform professionally. My membership in the Church has given me inspiration for my song writing.

Why I am a Mormon

This is a very simple question to answer. I am a Mormon because I know that the Gospel has been restored to the earth in these latter days. There was a time many years ago that because of a division in the church and the death of all of those who had been ordained to the Melchizedic Priesthood, the Priesthood held by our savior and prophets of old, the authority of the Priesthood was lost from the earth. In order for our Savior to return it was of necessity that Priesthood be restored and an organization be established to prepare for His retrun. I cannot imagine our Savior returning to the earth to confusion of many different sects begging his attention. It was so important that His church be re-established and the authority to perform sacred ordinances once again be present on Earth. I don't know much else to say other than everyone may know this truth. Not by my convincing with fancy words, but by asking Heavenly Father in the name of our Savior, is this true. Is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in fact that Church? He will answer.

How I live my faith

I am updating this because I have found myself getting closer and closer to my Heavenly Father. I have advanced in the Priesthood and feel a strong sense of responsibility to make sure that the Gospel is evident in all aspects of my life. It is through daily prayer, daily scritpure reading and working to fulfill my callings that I live my faith.

What is the priesthood?

Craig L
It is the authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ to perform certain ordinances necessary for our salvation. ie John the Baptist was given the authority to baptized. Today that power and authority have been restored. Show more Show less

What is the Church's position on abortion?

Craig L
We do not believe that abortion is to be used except in rare cases of rape or the mother's life is in jeopardy and then only under the opinion and advice of competent medical personnel. I have worked with organization that fight against laws that make abortion available on demand. I have seen the new 4D sonograms and the wonderful beauty of the little child waiting his/her turn on earth. I have seen the statistic that indicate abortion has been used as a form of birth control. Later term abortion because someone was accepted into a PhD program and although in the 8th month of pregnancy felt that a child at this point would ruin her chances to complete the program. Under a doctors recommendation had a late term abortion. The Church does opposed abortion and I personally am amazed at the sad destruction of beautiful children just wanting their time on earth!!! What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

Craig L
I have always loved the work Mahatma Gandhi did for his people. Although not a Christian I wondered how could a man who did such wonderful things with his life not be in Heaven. That was the first question I asked the missionaries. To them the answer was simple. After this life we go to the spirit world where we can continue to learn and grow. The fullness of the Gospel will be taught and opportunity for those who left this life without hearing the Gospel to learn and grow. Heavenly Father is a kind and loving God and would never deny a good and worthy person access to Heaven because they were born in an area of the world where the Gospel is not yet taught. What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Craig L
The missionaries will come into your home suggest some reading and most importantly will ask you to pray. If someone can convince you intellectually that something is true, then someone can just as easily convince that it is not true also using an intellectual argument. Therefore the missionaries are not there to convince you of anything. The are there to invite you to ask Heavenly Father the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the Gospel in these latter days. Also if they look hungry FEED THEM. Just kidding, sort of. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Craig L
More than anything it is common sense about how to treat your physical body. But beyond that the Word of Wisdom tells us how to live so that we might have closer contact with the Holy Ghost. The Spirit of the Holy Ghost will not dwell in an unclean body. The Word of Wisdom teaches some basic principles to allow us to avoid pitfalls of this day in terms of habits and also a guideline to help us stay close to the Spirit. Show more Show less

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Craig L
Baptism is actually a word created in English from the Greek word baptisma, which means to immerse. We believe in the literal use of the word and immersion in water is a Baptism. It must however be done by one having the proper authority. Baptism is done to show we have repented of our sins and have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Craig L
Yes and I am so grateful. How sad it would be if in the latter days Heavenly Father left us without direction, without authority to perform necessary ordinances. Thankfully he has not. We have a prophet much like Moses, but with access to the whole world thanks to new and wonderful technology. The Gospel will be heard by every nation and every tongue. Yes we have a Prophet just like Moses here on earth today. Show more Show less
