Hi I'm Scott

I'm a husband and father. I'm a civil engineer. I work in the construction industry. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a pretty typical history to any average kid growing up in the states. I remember an assignment in the fourth grade that has helped to define my life's path. We went on a field trip to downtown Salt Lake to see and learn about the different types of architecture. I was intrigued by the huge towering buildings and all the different structural features. We were then assigned to go home and draw a building of our own. I was hooked. After realizing that architecture was a little too artsy for my taste l knew that engineering was really what I wanted to do. While work is important to me my family comes first. I have two kids and a third is on the way. Parenthood is a humbling responsibility and I am thankful for the gospel truths to help my wife and I in raising our kids. My family is my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the simple clarity that the gospel has to offer. When I read the scriptures, attend church or just in my everyday life the Spirit speaks to my heart and my mind and I know that the gospel is true. With my engineering mind my thought process is very logical and cut and dry in a sense. Because of this I appreciate very much the unwavering and eternal truths that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uniquely possesses and teaches. The most important thing is the way that it affects me and my family. When we are doing our best to live the principles of these gospel principles, we are happy and can feel the Spirit in our lives and our home.

How I live my faith

While admittedly I am not perfect I do try to live my faith in my everyday life. I believe that the gospel challenges us to not merely know something but rather be something. If we are truly trying to be like Jesus it will be reflected in the way that we treat other people and the way that we conduct our lives. While I find it difficult at times I try to keep the perspective that we are all brothers and sisters being that we share the same Heavenly Father. I'm working on it and I hope that one day this is more who I am rather than just what I believe. I believe that God is all around us but it is up to us to recognize his hand in our lives. A favorite quote of mine, "Earth's crammed with heaven and every common bush afire with God, but only he who sees takes off his shoes." -Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The earth and everything in it testify of our Savior and Heavenly Father. I think that the more that we are aware of their presence the easier it is to remember and do the things that are really the most important in life.
