Hi I'm Erin

I grew up in Utah and Colorado. I am a young mother studying to be able to teach mathematics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a full time mom and an occasional math tutor. Our family loves reading and learning, playing and exploring. I love going to the park or store with my little ones and seeing the joy of discovering new things first hand.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the LDS church, but not always active and attending. When I was 12, members of the young women group in my area befriended me and invited me to come with them to church and all the activities. I always believed in God from my mothers teachings, but when I started going to church every week, I started to pay more attention to what was being taught. I felt the Spirit of God helping me to learn and I started to read the scriptures on my own and to pray on my own. I felt God's love and felt answers to my simple prayers, letting me know that what I was learning was true and good. As I've grown older, I've had many more experiences that have helped to solidify my testimony of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the doctrines of this church. I know that God knows us and loves each of us and He wants us to come to Him so that He can heal our hearts and show us the miracle of His Son's sacrifice for us.

How I live my faith

There are a lot of great opportunities for service in the mormon church. Right now, my husband and I teach a primary class (sunday school for kids) and I work with the girls from primary during the week. It's called activity days. We have lots of fun and learn new things every month. I also do home visits with a few of the women in our congregation. We share a monthly message from our church leaders and try to help the women stay close to God. It's a wonderful program because these women have become my friends.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Erin
Since the church is worldwide, it's important to keep things organized. The congregation that meets together every Sunday is called a ward or a branch, depending on it's size. Several wards are grouped together into a stake. This way we can help each other and our leaders can make sure that we're being taught correct doctrines from the scriptures and make sure each family and individual is cared for and able to serve if they want to.
