Hi I'm Samantha

I'm a writer. I'll make you laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

To name a few things I love laughing, longboarding, speakin' Spanish, making people laugh, bustin' a dance move or two when the music's just right, anything that has to do with music and singing, playing some serious basketball every morning and writing. Writing, writing, writing. About anything! Poems, short stories, and I'll be honest I even enjoy writing an essay or two for school every once in a while. I love taking an ordinary thing or moment, and giving it life and emotion and detail that never even crossed anyone's mind. I just love words. I once took an upper level english class all about grammar just for the fun of it. I was an editor on the university newspaper staff for a bit, that was fun. I'm studying education, spanish and psychology. Besides all this fancy stuff I just like having a good time, laughing and appreciating all the little details and awesomeness that is all around us. Life is super stellar and I just love it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon, well technically because I was born into it. But there comes a time in every person's life where they have to gain knowledge and a testimony on their own. With time whatever beliefs you adopted from your parents just isn't enough. You have to know for yourself, and that's what happened with me. I was wandering, going to church but not really being there. Zoning out and not caring about anything, wondering what the big deal was and if it was even worth it. It was that point in life where the road of life forks and you've got to choose which path to take. I saw my friends all around me making poor decisions and making mistakes that would later destroy their lives...physically and spiritually. I was invited to the parties and offered all the temptations, and I had a realization that I had to choose. Choose to believe and live my religion, or make my own way. I chose to follow the gospel, to put its teachings to the test and see if all the happiness that I had heard about my whole life was real. I am here to tell you that it is real. Everything I am today (and everything I'm not) I owe to Jesus Christ and the doctrines and teachings of His true church. I am happy, I am healthy, I am capable. Life isn't easy, everyday there are challenges and let-downs. But I know what my purpose is and each day of my life is filled with meaning because of that knowledge. I love this church, I love Jesus Christ and the way He and His gospel have and will strengthen me today and for the rest of my life. He is the only way. He lives! Isn't that awesome?

How I live my faith

Currently I am living my faith by being a missionary in Houston, Texas. Other than that, I try my best everyday to love others. Love them the way Christ loves them. I find incredible satisfaction by making others laugh, helping them and doing anything I can to be a good friend. Without love, there is no gospel of Jesus Christ. He is the epitome and definition of love. Love is how I live my faith.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Samantha
In Spanish there's a phrase that says, "ser mormon es ser feliz." Basically it says, "To be Mormon is to be happy." That's exactly the Mormon life Happiness! You've probably noticed that it seems like we have a lot of "rules" or "things we can or can't do" but these things aren't given to bum us out or restrict us, rather they're given to us from a loving God for our benefit and personal well-being. We live the best we can everyday. We still mess up and get discouraged sometimes, but we know the power of Jesus Christ and each day we can be better. We're just normal people living a little higher than normal standards to live a happier life. To be Mormon is to be HAPPY! I am happy Show more Show less
