Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona. I love to play and watch all sports. I am a Husband, a father, a teacher, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my beautiful wife Sarah for 11 years, and we have three children, two boys and a girl. When I lost my job in the Finance world at the end of 2008, my wife and I prayed on what to do next. After not finding work in Utah, we decided to change careers and for me to go back to school and get my degree. I moved my family from Utah to Arizona, so my parents could help us, and I went back to school. The last two and half years being at home was a challenge, but it allowed me to share memories with my kids that I never would have gotten had we not decided to have the courage to make this change. I am now a college graduate and just started teaching this fall 8th grade Social Studies. I love most sports especially college football, and spending time with my children. Family is such a huge part of my life, and I am so grateful to live so close to so many of my extended family and friends. The best thing that the gospel of Jesus Christ has given me is the hope that I am never alone, and that as I put my trust and Faith in his teachings, my life, and the life of my family will be directed and blessed for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up I was always taught about the Savior and his teachings, and I always believed he was there for me. When I was an adult I decided to honestly seek answers to things I had been thinking about for a long time. I decided to take the challenge myself to ask God with real intent if the things I had been taught were true and were meant for me. The answers I received from my prayers were so overwhelming I knew that what I had been looking for had been found. I no longer needed to believe things were true, I had a sure knowledge they were true. I Choose now to follow the teachings of the savior because I know that when I do, I am more at peace and feel his love around me. I know that when I follow my Saviors gospel, life makes sense, and the world makes more sense, and for me that is the greatest gift I can ever have.

How I live my faith

I enjoy working with the youth, helping them navigate life's challenges. I currently serve my local ward as a cub-scout leader for the 8 and 9 year old boys. Watching their excitement when they earn a new achievement or learn a skill like building a bird house, gives me great satisfaction; that I somehow am helping them develop life skills they will hopefully use later in life.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jared
I believe the Bible to be the word of God, just as every other Christian believes it to be true. It is a Holy scripture to help guide us in this life. When I read the Bible it only strengthens my testimony that God knows who I am and he has a plan and a purpose for each one of us. When I put myself in the stories from the Bible, answers to life's challenges come, and an over whelming happiness fills my heart. I know that the Bible not only is scripture for me to learn from, but it is a tool to help me in my journey back to my Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
