Hi I'm Rico

I climb wind turbines, I'm a student, I'm a rugby player, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student Brigham Young University - Idaho studying Health Science with an emphasis in Occupational Safety and Health. I love learning, it is something that I have had a passion for all my life, but really took off on my mission (Mexico, Guadalajara E. Mission). In my free time I like to be outdoors as much as possible taking advantage of the skiing and hiking opportunities that come with living in Colorado and Idaho. Rugby is a passion that has replaced football, which I gave up when I decided to join the Church and serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

After losing my father to suicide when I was sixteen years old, I began to have a lot of doubt and frustration in my life. Questions, concerns, blame, and emptiness quickly became daily struggles. As I attended different churches I kept feeling that something was lacking, finding the answers to the problems in my life fall short time and time again. I was blessed to have a best friend who was living a life that I had tried and tried again to live. He had the peace and assurance that came from knowing the answers to the questions that were tormenting me. Answers that were shared to me by him, and two 20 year old missionaries. As they shared the message of the Restoration, doubts began to be settled. As I learned about the Plan of Salvation all the frustration, bitterness, blame, hate, and guilt were lifted, And with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the chasm of years of carrying these feelings was filled.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the commandments and following the counsel that is given in General Conference. I know that as we prayerfully study the scriptures every day the Spirit will witness to our soul the truth of what we are learning. When we study the scriptures and in particular the Book of Mormon the Spirit will touch our hearts and change our lives and will help us take on attributes of our Savior. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and because it is the word of God all the conditions and claims that come with it are true. For example, because the Book of Mormon is true I know I am a son of God. Because the Book of Mormon is true we know there is a prophet on the earth today. Because the Book of Mormon is true Joseph Smith really saw what he said he saw. Because the Book of Mormon is true Christ really does live.
