Hi I'm Danita

I grew up in New York State, and I hate snow. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a full-time college student that just finished up law school and is preparing to enter a Ph.D. program in Counseling. I love to talk to people and help them with their problems. When I have free time, I play the violin and try to learn new instruments and languages. I love watching reality television shows, particularly those that involve dancing or singing competitions. I have 3 brothers, and 5 nieces/nephews that I love as though they were my own. My greatest guilty pleasure is singing karaoke in my living room. I play video games to loosen up when I'm stressed, and consider myself a RockBand expert.

Why I am a Mormon

My whole family is religious, but I am currently the only person that is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When I learned about Heavenly Father's plan of happiness, it warmed my heart. I struggled with loneliness, confusion, anger and a lack of self confidence. But the Plan of Happiness helped me learn that I am a daughter of God, and I am very valuable. Since my baptism, I've experienced true joy. I've made great friends. I've become closer to God than ever before. Not everything has been easy, but I now know how, when, and why to pray to God for answers and comfort. Since my conversion, I've become a better and stronger resource for my family. I've been able to be honest in my dealings with the people I encounter, and have a love for all of my fellow men and women. Understanding that this life is part of an eternal plan, that this plan was created for my happiness, and that the gospel is a guidebook for committing to this plan is the greatest knowledge that could ever be bestowed upon me.

How I live my faith

Family is so important in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and one way we strengthen families is by holding Family Home Evening. On Monday nights we gather to discuss the Gospel, plan an activity, and enjoy a treat. In my ward of young single adults, I coordinate Family Home Evening. I plan fun activities like dance lessons, sledding excursions, and trivia nights. I also help arrange for the yummy treats! I am also a ward missionary. I help the full time missionaries prepare and teach lessons to those that want to learn more about the Church. I endeavor to learn as much about everyone in the ward that I can, so that we can serve the needs of everyone more effectively.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Danita
The Holy Ghost works closely with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and we call all three of them together the "Godhead." He does not have a body, so he can dwell inside of us. He helps us to know right from wrong, to feel comfort, and gives us guidance and direction in our lives. As long as we live our lives in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost is always with us. Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Danita
Use mormon.org to find the closest church building to you. There will be full-time missionaries serving there, whom are especially great are explaining the Church's beliefs. Once you learn about the Church and come to know for yourself that the things you've learned are true, the missionaries can and will put you in touch with those in charge of planning baptismal services. After your special baptism day, you'll be confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Show more Show less
