Hi I'm Meghan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student at a small LDS liberal arts university, majoring in English. I'm a voracious reader, as well as an aspiring writer. I love being outdoors, soaking up the beauty that I find there. I love working with horses and take great pleasure working at a therapeutic riding facility here in New England. I'm always singing or humming, and dabble in the violin - I simply love music. I grew up in in the northeast in various small towns and cling to those values.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe in a Church feeling like a home. It's important for me to be able to learn from others, and to have the opportunity to teach others in a nurturing and strengthening environment. Growing up I always felt like something was missing - that feeling when you know that you can turn to anyone in the congregation at any time for guidance and help. Most of all, I felt that I hadn't learned all that I could with just the Bible. I knew in my heart that there was something more, that there was more that I needed to know to help me here on this earth. The Book of Mormon made sense. To me, it was a testimony that God was a living God, that He was continually reaching out and that we were able to receive modern-day guidance from prophets and apostles on the earth today. I would read and study, trying to drink in as much as possible, but it just wasn't enough. I needed more because I was poignantly aware of what my life was lacking, and what I was lacking as a person. My faith and hope lies in the knowledge that because of Christ, I can return to my Heavenly Father. When I work with my Savior, my imperfections are turned to perfection and my mountains can be moved. There is no pain, no sorrow, no burden nor sin that I bear alone because of Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father and what I learn of them in the Book of Mormon and from the prophets on this earth today.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith every moment of every day, even while living in an LDS/Mormon university setting. I have a calling to be on the compassionate service committee for my university ward - which blesses me by allowing me to do one of my favorite things: Love people, help them, simply show them compassion.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Meghan
Mormons don't worship Joseph Smith, but we believe him to be a prophet of God like the prophets of old Moses, Isaiah and Abraham. He is an instrument in the Hands of the Lord who was key in restoring the fullness of the Gospel to the world today. We revere and honor prophets, but worship our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, whom use prophets as their messengers for us here on the earth. Joseph Smith was just that - a messenger of the Lord, ushering in the new dispensation and laying the foundations of what has become the Church now. Show more Show less
