Hi I'm Leslie

I grew up in the middle of nowhere, believe life should be simple, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 24. I grew up on a small farm in Washington state. There I learned to work hard, love my family, and appreciate the simple things in life. I still love working in the garden and building things with my Dad. I'm currently working towards a degree in Humanities. I study cultures, and hope to be involved in Museum Education. I love to share fascinating history and inspiring stories with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 15, the last of my siblings to became a member. Honestly, it took me a while to understand why the restored gospel of Jesus Christ would be important in my life and what impact it could have... I was already a happy person, and a generally good kid. It's amazing how my life has changed for the better since I've learned how Christ would want me to live and have tried my best to do it. The reason I'm a member today is because through much prayer, lots of experience, and studying it for myself, I know that the message of the restored gospel is true. I mean really, if God had called a prophet and twelve apostles in our day just as he had in the past, or if I could still have my family in heaven... Isn't that worth knowing? I still have my fair share of trials in life, yet I am so happy. Happiness from God means that nothing earthly has the power to take that joy away from me. I understand God's eternal plan for his children (all of us), and I know that hard times only lead to the good ones.

How I live my faith

I believe that we can all make a positive difference in this world, and that we should all try. Whether it's in our own life or the life of a friend, with our family, in the community, government, or in nature. The goal is to be happy right? Well, the best happiness comes from our Heavenly Father and understanding His plan for us. I strive to understand what He wants for me in my life, and help others realize that they too are children of a God who loves them, and wants the best for them.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Leslie
The members of the church who choose to go out and serve missions know how much the restored gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed their lives. They know that we have a Prophet today who speaks to us, and helps us come closer to God. Missionaries proselyte because they want everyone else to have the chance to learn that these things are true. I was taught by missionaries. They were understanding and helped me to study it for myself, and ask God if it was true. It took me a while to learn to recognize answers from God, but I now know He does answer prayers. I'm grateful for the patience of the missionaries, as they answered my questions and helped me over come my doubts. Show more Show less
